(With “the family”, you mean another one that moved into that house, right? Hikaru’s entire family was murdered too, see above.)
They didn’t believe in ghosts, so they wouldn’t even have thought about their house being haunted.

They later found out that it was the hyena that turned on the TV that was in the kitchen that made the glass noise
One night, they heard the sound of a baby crying.
Then they checked the bedrooms.
And found nothing other than a obese hyena.
The cupboard that was usually was filled with up to cakes was suspiciously empty.
Slenderman was hiding in the closet with cake icing on his face
