A Complete Bridgerton Character Glossary
Need a refresher on Bridgerton’s
cast of characters? Here’s every character from the series. Just beware: there are spoilers ahead!
Main Characters
Agatha Danbury
- Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) is a well-respected doyenne of the ton and Simon Basset’s former mentor; the two remain close. She sponsors Mary Sharma and her daughters, giving them a place to stay and helping Edwina find a match. She’s also good friends with Violet Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte.
Anthony Bridgerton
- Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) is the 9th Viscount Bridgerton and the eldest of the Bridgerton children. He takes his duties as the head of the family seriously and is initially afraid of finding true love—and potentially losing it—as a result of his father’s death. He later falls for Kate Sharma, and the two get married, with Kate becoming the Viscountess Bridgerton.
Benedict Bridgerton
- Benedict (Luke Thompson) is the second eldest Bridgerton and an aspiring artist. He spends more time exploring his wild side and the bohemian lifestyle than he does in “proper” society.
Colin Bridgerton
- Colin (Luke Newton) is the third-eldest Bridgerton. He gets engaged to Marina Thompson, but their engagement falls through after Marina is revealed to be pregnant. He decides to go traveling after feeling like he doesn’t have a purpose and later falls for Penelope Featherington in the show’s third season.
Daphne Bridgerton
- Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) is the fourth-eldest Bridgerton and eldest daughter. The Queen names her the “diamond” of her season, but she’s forced into a partnership with Simon Basset after her brother, Anthony, sabotages all of her potential suitors. She and Simon later get married and have a son.
Eloise Bridgerton
- Eloise (Claudia Jesse) is the fifth-eldest Bridgerton. She’s more interested in books and women’s rights than finding a marriage match and doesn’t particularly enjoy her introduction to society. She and Penelope Featherington are best friends, though the two fall out over Penelope’s “Whistledown” alter ego.
Francesca Bridgerton
- Francesca (Ruby Stokes, Hannah Dodd) is the sixth Bridgerton sibling. She’s quiet and reserved compared to the rest of her family, preferring to practice the pianoforte and spend time in her own company. She makes her debut into society in the show’s third season and marries John Stirling, leaving with John and his cousin, Michaela, for their Scotland home.
Gregory Bridgerton
- Gregory (Will Tilston) is the seventh Bridgerton sibling. He’s also the youngest son in the family.
Hyacinth Bridgerton
- Hyacinth (Florence Hunt) is the eighth Bridgerton sibling and youngest child in the family. She tries to be included in her elder siblings’ affairs, although she’s often told that she’s too young.
Kate (Kathani) Sharma
- Kate (Simone Ashley) is Mary Sharma’s stepdaughter and Edwina Sharma’s half-sister. She’s committed to ensuring her sister’s successful match with a suitor. She tries her hardest to prevent Anthony Bridgerton from courting Edwina, believing Anthony is nothing but a womanizer incapable of a love match—but she and Anthony are instead drawn to each other. They later get married, making Kate the new Viscountess Bridgerton.
Lady Whistledown
- Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews) is the pen name Penelope Featherington uses to publish her gossip sheets anonymously.
Penelope Featherington
- Penelope is the youngest Featherington daughter, considered a “spinster” because of the number of seasons she goes through without getting married. She’s old friends with Colin and has an unrequited crush on him, though eventually it becomes mutual, and she and Colin get married.
Queen Charlotte
- Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) is King George III’s wife and an active participant in each social season. She meets new debutantes and names one the “diamond” each year. She also makes it her mission to learn Lady Whistledown’s true identity. Note: Charlotte is based on the real-life Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, queen consort of King George III.
Simon Basset
- Simon (Regé-Jean Page) is the Duke of Hastings—considered a very eligible suitor, though he initially resolves not to marry or have children to spite his father. He agrees to help Daphne find a match by pretending to court her, but the two eventually fall in love and get married themselves.
Violet Bridgerton
- Violet (Ruth Gemmell) is the matriarch of the Bridgerton family and widow of Edmund Bridgerton, the former Viscount. She’s a loving mother who cares deeply for her children’s happiness, though she struggled immensely with her husband’s death.
Supporting Characters
- Albion Finch - Albion Finch (Lorn Macdonald) is a member of the ton who courts Philippa Featherington and later marries her.
- Alice Mondrich - Alice (Emma Naomi) is Will Mondrich’s wife. The two have a son who inherits the title Baron of Kent, making Alice and her husband members of the ton as well.
- Anne Hartigan - Anne (Molly Jackson-Shaw) is one of the debutantes in Bridgerton’s third season.
- Araminta Cowper - Lady Cowper (Joanna Bobin) is Cressida’s mother and often tries to help her daughter find a suitor.
- Archibald Featherington - Archibald (Ben Miller) is the former head of the Featherington family. He was a gambler, and his death left his family in financial trouble.
- Brimsley - Brimsley (Sam Clemmett) is Queen Charlotte’s secretary and often present with the Queen at social events. He was once in a secret relationship with the King’s secretary, Reynolds.
- Clara Livingston - Clara (Genevieve Chenneour) is a debutante along with Francesca, Eloise, and Cressida. She spreads rumors about Colin and Penelope, causing a scandal.
