  • Question
How do I build a safe room in a desert climate where the ground is very hard?
    Community Answer
Use commercial building machinery. Classes are available at a variety of places to learn the operation of these tools, and they can often be rented from construction companies. Alternatively, you can hire a construction company to break in land for you, and possibly even build the main body of the safe room. If you aren't dead set on a particular place, another option would be to utilize natural land formations to build your safe room. A shallow cave or rocky outcropping can provide a good natural blueprint for a room, and with some concrete, rebar, and sanding work, can be shaped into secure rooms by cutting into the rock.
  • Question
How do I supply the underground room with fresh air?
    Lily Nguyen
    Community Answer
You can use an electric fan if you have a power outlet. If not, then you can use plant potted plants in the underground shelter, since trees produce oxygen, which humans can breathe as air. But if you are doing this, make sure you have a 15 gallon water supply, since watering a plant 1/4 cups of water each 2 days, the water supply will last about 120 days and that will probably be enough.
