Vinegar works great for cleaning your Keurig. Just put a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water in the reservoir and run a few cycles to clear it out.
  • Question
After descaling my Keurig machine my coffee I just brewed is thick and cloggy. Any advice?
    Community Answer
Did you go through the rinsing process at least 12 times (12 large cups worth of clean water after the solution)? You may have to fill the water reservoir a couple of times. This should wash away the scales that you descaled (calcium deposits) as well as residual solution. You want to make sure to not use any pods during the rinsing process, just water. The clumps are probably the calcium and/or the descaling solution. You can also use white vinegar to clean/descale. Again, you will need to thoroughly rinse by running about 12 large cups of water through so that it doesn't taste like vinegar or get clumps. This way is cheaper too!
  • Question
Should I use cleaning vinegar or regular vinegar?
    Community Answer
You can get good results from either.
  • Question
    How about apple cider vinegar?
    Eli Marx
    Community Answer
Apple cider vinegar can stain your Keurig machine. Just use normal white vinegar.
  • Question
How do I take apart the K-Cup holder into its two parts?
    Community Answer
First, open the brewer head and remove any K-Cup. Then, firmly grip the top part of the holder and rotate it counterclockwise to unscrew it from the bottom part. To avoid damage, be sure not to apply too much pressure. After separating, clean each part thoroughly, then reassemble by screwing them back together clockwise.
  • Question
Why does my Keurig display "Add Water" when the reservoir is full? It also will not function.
    Community Answer
There are a few possible reasons why this might be occurring. First, check that the reservoir is properly seated, and check for any obstructions blocking water flow. Then, clean around the water inlet with a damp cloth to remove any debris that might affect the sensor. If the issue continues, it may be a malfunction with the sensor, and contacting Keurig customer support or getting the machine serviced might be necessary.
  • Question
Why is my Keurig still dripping on the outside where the coffee comes out after cleaning it with vinegar?
    Community Answer
First, check if any parts were improperly reassembled, as misalignment can cause leaks. Also, there might be a buildup in the needle that punctures the K-Cup. If this is the case, use a paper clip or needle to clean it carefully. If the issue continues, contact Keurig customer support for further assistance.
  • Question
Why won't the “descale” light turn off after using the vinegar and water routine?
    Community Answer
Try running a few cycles of just water through the machine to rinse out any remaining vinegar. If that doesn't work, you might need to manually reset the machine by pressing a specific button sequence, which you can find in your manual. If all else fails, contact Keurig customer support for assistance.
  • Question
Why does my Keurig stop dispensing vinegar after one cup during descaling?
    Community Answer
This may be happening for a few reasons. First, ensure the vinegar solution is properly mixed and that there are no clogs or blockages in the machine's water lines or needles. Try running a mixture of vinegar and water through the machine again, ensuring the reservoir is adequately filled. If the issue persists, manually prime the machine by performing a water-only brew cycle to clear any air bubbles or obstructions. If none of these steps resolve the problem, there may be a more significant issue with the machine, and you should contact Keurig customer support for further assistance.
  • Question
Should I let the vinegar sit in the Keurig for some time when descaling before rinsing it?
    Snakey006550
    Top Answerer
Yes, when descaling a Keurig with vinegar, let the vinegar sit in the machine for 30 minutes to an hour to break down mineral buildup. Run the machine with vinegar through a few brewing cycles, then rinse thoroughly by running several cycles with clean water.
  • Question
I used distilled vinegar, and my Keurig ran well once, but then it slowed down and stopped completely.
    Susan Holmes
    Community Answer
The distilled vinegar might have loosened some buildup, causing a clog. Try running a few more cycles with water only to remove any debris. If that doesn’t work, you might need to manually clean the internal parts or contact customer support.
  • Question
How do I store my Keurig for an extended period?
    Rylan
    Community Answer
To prepare your Keurig for long-term storage, empty the reservoir, fill it with white vinegar, and run the machine until empty. Rinse with water, refill with water, and run again to remove any vinegar residue. Repeat until the dispensed water is vinegar-free. Store the machine upright and in a moderate-temperature environment to prevent freezing.
  • Question
Can I use white wine vinegar to clean my Keurig instead of distilled white vinegar?
    jenna
    Community Answer
No, it's best to use distilled white vinegar to avoid damaging your machine.
  • Question
What can I do if the descale light stays on after cleaning my Keurig and it won't brew?
    Hailey Scott
    Top Answerer
Try running several brew cycles with fresh water to flush out any remaining solution. Check for clogs in the exit needle and clean it gently. Unplug the machine for a few minutes to reset it. Some models have a descaling mode reset, so consult your manual. If the problem persists, contact Keurig's support for assistance. Regular maintenance is essential for optimal performance.
  • Question
How do I get the descale light to turn off?
    Trendy Hairstyle
    Community Answer
To turn off the descale light, first consult your user manual. Prepare a descaling solution with water and vinegar or a commercial product as specified. Follow the manual's descaling instructions and rinse the appliance thoroughly. Unplug and re-plug the appliance to reset it.
  • Question
What can I do if my Keurig stopped working after cleaning, and the power light won't even come on?
    Hailey Scott
    Top Answerer
Be sure it's plugged into a working outlet, and inspect the power cord for damage. Reset the machine by unplugging it for a few minutes. Check that the water reservoir is properly seated. If these steps don't work, contact Keurig's customer support for further assistance.
  • Question
My Keurig starts brewing and filling my cup, then shuts off. I descaled it, but it still does the same thing. Is my machine broken?
    Hailey Scott
    Top Answerer
It might be due to a clogged exit needle, a misaligned water magnet, or a stuck floater in the reservoir. Check and clean the exit needle with a paperclip. Make sure the water magnet is aligned and shake the reservoir gently if the floater is stuck. Unplug the Keurig for a few minutes, then plug it back in. If these steps don't work, contact Keurig customer support, as there may be a deeper issue. Regular maintenance helps, but you may need a replacement if all else fails.
  • Question
What should I do if my Keurig doesn't work after cleaning it with white vinegar?
    Hailey Scott
    Top Answerer
There might be residue or air bubbles in the system. Fill the water reservoir with fresh water and run several brew cycles without a coffee pod to flush out any remaining vinegar. Check the needle for clogs or debris by gently cleaning it with a paperclip or toothpick. Ensure the water reservoir is properly seated and connected. If these steps don't resolve the issue, unplug the machine for a few minutes, then plug it back in and try again. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Keurig's customer support for further assistance. Regular maintenance and careful cleaning should keep your Keurig in good working order.
  • Question
After cleaning my Keurig with white vinegar, every cup I make says to prime.
    Hailey Scott
    Top Answerer
It may be due to leftover residue or air bubbles in the water lines. To resolve this, empty the water reservoir and refill it with clean water. Run multiple brew cycles without a coffee pod to flush out any remaining vinegar and clear any air bubbles. If the issue persists, check the water intake area for clogs or debris and clean it gently. Be sure all components are properly seated and connected to prevent the priming error. Regular maintenance and cleaning should keep your Keurig running smoothly.
