Resources are the base of Clash of Clans. You've attacked and gotten quite a large amount in your storages. But you also need to defend your resources, so attackers can't take them away. This article will help you with your defence.

Method 1
Method 1 of 3:

Defending Your Base

  1. Save up as much of your resources as you can. Put the collectors/mines/drillers on the outside of your village. They have less value and contain fewer resources. Put the storage on the inside of your village to ensure maximum protection from your enemies.
  2. Cannons and mortars can't fire at air targets, so if balloons attack them, they'll be destroyed. Put them within an attack radius of an air defense or Archer Towers. Wizard Towers are vulnerable to clusters of Barbarians or giants/any troops with very high health, so cover it with an air defense or Archer Towers. Add any Air Bombs if available.

  3. Back in the day users would put multilayered walls around their village and place any extra walls in random spots to thwart Wall Breakers. Wall Breakers are now more intelligent and ignore unused/miscellaneous walls, and their explosion radius now damage double layered walls as effectively as if they were a single layer. Add cannons and Archer Towers around your village because they can target Wall Breakers faster than other defenses.
  4. Archer Towers are more effective in killing Giants than cannons or mortars. If you have at least 10 Giants surrounding any defenses, they're screwed. Spring Traps are more effective at killing Giants. 1 Spring Trap can throw up to 3 Giants at a time. A Giant Bomb can damage every Giant in the surrounding area. Bombs aren't that effective.
  5. They can help improve your base's defense slightly at no cost to you.

Attacking Other Bases

  1. If you have more than 5 Giants, you can successfully destroy a Tesla. The most obvious places to find a Tesla is an unusual collection of walls around a village. The Walls protect the Tesla, so don't spawn there. Also, P.E.K.K.A's are very weak against teslas.
  2. Put down one troop in the clan castle radius and if there are any troops inside they will target your troop. Then drop a troop at a time and lure them away from the enemy defenses and bring them to the side. Then drop the number of troops needed to finish up job without any defenses bothering you. Then you don't need to worry about that.
  3. During special events, troops may be discounted for 10% of their original price. Take advantage of this by training a regular army and then loading up on the troop right before the event ends. Then, untrain the troops to get refunded for the original price. You can also bank up elixir before bed to hide it from attackers. Have an army in your army camps and then load up your barracks with wall-breakers. This will preserve the elixir in your barracks hiding it from any attackers.
    • For example, if you train golems for 450 dark elixir each during the special event and then untrain them for 4500 dark elixir each, you'll make 4050 dark elixir per golem. You can train up to 6-8 golems depending on your army camp levels which leads to a lot of extra resources.
    • Make sure you have an army trained before both the DE armies. Otherwise, it'll all end up in your army camps and be wasted.
    • Don't forget to untrain the armies when you log on again!
    • With the DE bank strategy, use wall-breakers because they have the most value per housing space. You can also train spells in your spell factory.

Using Other Methods

  1. You know how upgraded troops cost more? Well, you can save elixir by this easy tip! For example, you're almost finished upgrading your Archers to level 3. Fill up your Army Camps with level 2 Archers, maximum. When the laboratory finishes upgrading, your Archers will auto-upgrade at no extra cost.
  2. If there is an unusually large amount of tombstones in an area, that means there were deactivated traps there. Other players have used up the traps, which means you can spawn your troops there without fear of traps. Another tip: If you can spawn troops inside of a village, be careful. They can place a spring trap there or a Giant Bomb, so place a single troop to activate it, then throw in everything.

  • Question
If they attack with giant on defense, how I can save resources?
    Community Answer
Use spring traps, giant bombs, etc. People generally use giants in hoards, so you should consider using things with splash damage.
  • Question
Should the town hall be kept inside the base or outside?

    Top Answerer
It is best to keep it inside, as it holds a large amount of resources and destroying it will instantly win a battle. The only time it should be placed outside is when trying to lose trophies.
  • Question
Can you suggest a good strategy for maxing out my village?
    Community Answer
Yes, do not upgrade your town hall without maxing out your base. Get more builders so you can max your base quicker.

      Tips

      • If you see any 2 by 2 space in between building place a barbarian or archer to activate a tesla/blow up a giant bomb
      • Collectors are important too. When all seven Elixir Collectors or Gold Mines are at max level they can contain 2,100,000 of both resources, you can lose up to 1,050,000 of both resources in collectors when someone raids you so always keep them in range of your defenses.
      • Try to place at least one wizard tower near the storages as it can take down a large number of tier one troops (goblins, barbarians, and archers) as they attempt to steal your resources.
