Yikes, we have 1544 unpatrolled edits in the RC queue! Unfortunately, we found 2 editors who were doing a shoddy job on RC patrol. And they had together patrolled around 1400 edits over the last few weeks. To protect the wiki from all sorts of garbage edits, I’ve unpatrolled those edits. Hopefully we can crank through this new big list and get RC back to 0.

o.O When I saw the number I literately fell off my seat Well at least RC isn’t in the 2,000s, because I’d have a heart attack

Well, at least Krystle is on vacation, so I won’t be blaming her…
It’s relatively normal now, 300’s not terrible.
Finally recovered from the seizure I had when I read the first post. Who would do such a thing?

Look back to the top…Krystle is on vacation, so Mr. Herrick would appear to be the culprit… Or did you mean who’s patrols were rolled back? I guess you could compare edits appearing on the recent changes page and check the logs, but it really isn’t relevent, since if they haven’t been contacted, they most likely will be.

This is an example of why some edits should be rechecked…if you don’t want to follow the link, the "welcome message’’ here is simply "Hello, Indian Hater’’…not a nice way to be greeted…

A few years ago, that was considered normal…

Semi right and wrong… when I came March '07, the daily average was around 1100 or so. 700 was like today’s “0”, and then jumped back around 900-1000 in the morning hours.

There were less active editors around on the site that time (07-08) like if we were lucky 10 and around the afternoon my time nobody was online so I remember that I have to patrol it all alone but it didn’t helped at all
Here’s a blast from the past, a forum post by the original King of the Patrollers, Brett Capewell: http://www.wikihow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1534
Wow. Fun reading that old forum posts! Yes over 500 unpatrolled edits was much more common in the past than it is now. Over the past few years, we have been much better able to manage RC patrol. We now have more active, diligent patrollers than we ever did. And our new tools are helping us find poor patrolling much quicker than we used to. It’s all helping make the wiki stronger. It’s great! I was amazed how quickly these 1500 questionable edits got dealt with. Thanks to @Metsguy234
@BR
@Tiagoroth
and everyone else for handling this problem so quickly! On the bad news front, I have noticed that in the past 2 weeks that RC patrol has frequently been in the over 300 range, after months of reliably being under 150. Is this just a random variation? Or caused by some our most active folks being busy with school or work? Or is it possible that the new RC coach is scaring people off patrol?
Personally, I’ve started doing other activities around wikiHow such as NFD Guardian. Causes me to patrol less, but I frequently do
I’m also in school, so I’ll be able to patrol less.

I have noticed many video additions and new articles in the RC list, and since I can’t read a complete article text, I seldom mark them, and the time to wait for a video to load also makes patrolling them tough. The new articles being unpatrolled is probably better than today’s trend of a lot of articles being marked as patrolled without any real consideration of whether they need tags or edits, but that has been a problem we have had in the past.

Idc if you been here for 50 years longer than me. I am only going by what other wikiHowians have said about rc count in the past. You can believe me or not. Doesn’t really matter to me.
