Hi all, was doing Picture Patrol and I encountered these 2 problems: 1. In ‘‘most cases’’ an image does NOT forward to the next article. What happens is after I click “Next” button the “old” image still stays in unless I refresh the browser page. Then it changes to a new one. 2. Quite a few images came out as a blank square. Refreshing a page did help in some cases and did not help in others (remained black square). I was not sure whether to skip it or hit “not” button. I hit “not” in the beginning and then skipped a few others. Just wanted the Administration know. P.S. apparently the double quotes around the word does not make this word bold or italic here on Forum. Or it did not work for me. I meant to emphasize “in most cases”.

Hey Laura! Thanks for the note. I just did some Picture Patrol on Chrome and Firefox and wasn’t able to recreate the scenario where the tool doesn’t move to the next image when you click “Next.” Bummer that it’s happening for you! Can you make a screencast of that so that we can see what’s happening? What browser/system are you on, again? I can give it a go on the same set-up (or ask Krystle to, if it’s Windows). The second issue is probably related to the thumbnail issue that’s happening all over the site right now. It shouldn’t be an issue for images that were uploaded a while ago, but thumbnails are taking some time to generate at the moment all over the site right now, so brand new ones might not show up right away. Sorry about that! The engineers are working on trying to get it all to move more quickly. Best to just skip those ones for now, and hopefully it’ll be resolved soon. It’s a possibility that both of these issues are also influenced by a slower connection, if your Internet Service Provider isn’t very speedy at the moment. Picture Patrol likely does take a bit of a smoother connection than, say, plain text editing, since it revolves around images. Maybe you can try from another connection or computer and see if you have the same issues?

@Anna , I use Windows 7, and always use Firefox as my browser. I have not used a Picture Patrol after the latest redesign though. I will try to make a screenshot but my connection is not slow. BTW - the rest of wikiHow is fine, moving forward w/o a delay. It’s just Picture Patrol. =) Please ask someone to try PP and let me know. I am now curious if someone else experience the same.

@Anna , I’ll have a follow-up screencast of at least one of the problems in IE11. She and her both see it (but on different browsers). It’s supper, so I’ll be back a little later.

@Byankno1 you mean “me and her”? you said “she and her”. I am curious if you, Chris, have the same 2 problems using Internet Explorer. (I always use Firefox).

Although I was unable to capture the screenshot of this “white image” which I’ve been finding is either a completely black image or an placemarker image(x-image), I was able to capture the screen becoming slow and keeping the same picture throughout several article. I had been having a problem with black images when I left the app earlier today, but as of recently, things changed. The black images happen sporadically, and trying to capture their presence would be hard to show. (Because of the sporadicness, I can’t put a number on how many times out of how many times this has happened). I also try to mention another problem with it’s numbers. Some of these issues I’ve reported to Krystle in the past (when the app came out), so some of them have been mentioned. @Laura7491 @Anna @Krystle See if this is what you’re talkin about Laura. I believe it is. http://screencast.com/t/lVvg9EgRt2 https://aboutmybrowser.com/4T1UNK9T

Thanks Chris! I think there’s a couple of factors at play here: one is that there’s a sometimes a bit of a delay in the new picture loading up (and every now and then it may not load at all). I suspect this is down to internet speed, but I can ask Aaron about it. The other is that some people might actually upload the same image twice (so you get the same one again, either right afterwards or a little later) - since those are labeled/uploaded as two “different” images, I don’t think there’s too much we can do about that, except to say “no” if it’s a duplicate you’ve just seen. Hopefully it only happens rarely! I’ll touch base with the engineers on it regardless and let them know what you’re seeing. Thanks! The thumbnail/no-image-loading issue is indeed ongoing and a really tough problem for the engineers to pin down and fix. They’ve been working a lot on it, and they’re continuing that work. We know it’s a real bummer in the meantime. Fingers crossed that they can figure out a solution soon!

@Byankno1 Yep, I noticed from your video too - you forwarded to a new article but the image stayed in, and did not move. I am sorry I did not notice how you managed to forward it … I had to refresh the browser page in order to change.

I can’t view ANY of the pictures right now. I have tried re-loading it a few times, still doesn’t work. Hope this can get fixed!
