I saw people like @Wowcheng advertising On forum threads. So website owners, worry no more! You can advertise here! And others, please take a step forward and take a look at the websites:)

No. Neither the forums or the site are here for advertising.

I’ve seen a lot of things… but seeing them does not mean they are “Okay” or sanctioned in any way. It just means no one has gotten around to patrolling it yet… and no one has removed/warned/coached the perpetrator yet.

The wikiHow forums are a subsidiary of the main website. Advertising on wikiHow is discouraged, and gets rolled back or nominated for deletion. I really don’t see why the forums should be any different. If people want to promote their websites, there are plenty of places they can do so on the web, but wikiHow is not one of them. Advertising is considered spam, and a wikiHow is not a link farm. As you may have noticed, advertising gets deleted very quickly in the forums.( Kudos to all our administrators) If wikiHow was here for advertising, it would not be a hybrid organisation. Website owners can take their advertising somewhere else( like Google Adwords, for instance). Plenty of alternatives are suggested in the “How to publicize yourself the right way on wikiHow” article. I would suggest advertisers read that article, before spamming the forums. The user in question had all his comments deleted. I believe that sends a message. Regards, Abhishek

wikiHow IS a hybrid organization, and advertising is part of what supports it. Posting spam on forums is against policy, as is posting spam on mainsite content like articles and discussionpages, not so much to keep wikiHow from becoming a link farm (although that is a very important concern) as much as the need to keep articles concise and complete within the page and not needing to refer visitors to other sources to accomplish their goals, and at the same time making their experience as safe a possible from malware they might be harmed by if they visit a linked page.
