I have some exciting news…we’ve been working on plans to host our first virtual wikiHow meetup this year! We think this will be a great alternative to the in-person meetup, and help bring a larger group of wikiHowians together to hang out and talk about all things wikiHow.

Mark your calendars, because you are welcome to attend this meetup from the comfort of your home on Saturday, September 12th, 2020 from 11am-4pm (California Pacific Time). You can find it in your timezone here . Although we appreciate that this time might not work for everyone, we’ve done our best to find a time that works across multiple time zones.

The meetup will take place via a video conference platform such as Google Meet, and have a variety of scheduled activities such as staff presentations, Q&A sessions, and games that are all optional to attend.

Are you settled on probably using Google Meet? I see on the meetup page that the platform is to be determined, so I’m wondering if you’re looking at other platforms as well.

Maybe if it’s on Zoom, I could stop by for a minute, but I wouldn’t know for sure.

@HelperOnWikihow the platform isn’t confirmed yet, Google Meet is just what we primarily use around wikiHow. Zoom is a potential option!

I’m curious as to whether we could record the meetup, or at least parts of it. In the past, we’ve recorded the State of the Wiki talk for those who were unable to attend. I’d imagine that with everything being online, it might make it a bit easier.

(Also, I vote everybody who attends should order pizza so we can all eat pizza together, if that’s a viable option.)

I am definitely hopeful that we can record the presentations - we just need to check on the viability and privacy once we confirm the platform:slight_smile:

Yeah this is going to be a fun time. It’ll be nice to speak with all of you again. I also agree with the pizza idea. We should also break out the drinks (for those who drink) to have a drink together for old times sake!

If by any chance I’m allowed to pull an all nighter, than I might be able to attend, but that’s only if we’re using Zoom. Anything Google is not going to work…

And another question - if I were to attend… can I stay “quiet” for most of the time?:slight_smile:Personally, I prefer not too show my face.
