Sometimes, when I try to answer a request, it has already been written. Why don’t we take off their name when their request is answered?

Only if you can come at it with a new approach and suggest a different title. Otherwise, it is a duplicate.

It’s because we don’t know we already have an article on that until you tell us. When you see that screen with a list of potential duplicates, that’s our system trying to detect duplicates, but obviously it’s not human so it doesn’t always work too well. So it’s totally possible none of them are duplicates, especially if you understand what exactly we consider a duplicate
. If you do see a duplicate though, you should select that title (the radio button) and press “Next”. This will put it on a list of proposed redirects, which an admin will review, and if they are in fact duplicates, the suggested title will be redirected to the existing title and will get pulled out of the requests system.
No, literally, I don’t see the potenial duplicates, I see there is already a article made.
in which case you just put a “dup” template on the request: for whatever reason they don"t get eliminated when the article is written

@Grahamster
Can you give an example?

@Krystle
i have had that happen; see a ‘request’, type that title into ‘write an article’, get no duplicates
?, write the article, then find the dup…
