Hey everyone! Just a heads-up for a bit of a change rolling out later today: Now that the Article Creation Tool has been up and running a little while and some of the bumps have been smoothed out, it’s time to open it up for logged-in folks, too, to help newer people share advice in the go-to format, without worrying about wikitext. We’re all hopeful that it’ll help address some of the difficulties that newer folks have with writing articles that are not how-tos (might even help fight some spam, too!). To reiterate a couple points from the first release: this editor is only for the very initial creation of a new article, not for editing after you click Publish (there’s still regular Guided/Advanced editors for that). In its current form, you can’t upload images and videos in your initial publishing of the article, but you can once you hit publish and go into regular editing. The tool might get “fancier” in this regard in the future, but we’re also thinking that it might actually help with the influx of copyrighted image uploads and video spam we’ve struggled with lately! Good news is, this tool has a preference setting. So if you don’t want it, you can turn it off! You can find the preference here . (Check out this screenshot to see exactly where.) Jordan is also running a script at this release so that anyone who already has their default editor as “Advanced” will have the Article Creation Tool defaulted to “off” (seems to make sense, if you’re an advanced editor!). If you have Guided editor on right now, the Article Creation Tool will be defaulted to “on,” too - but again, very quick and easy to turn off if you don’t want it:slight_smile:There’s always a possibility that once this tool rolls out to a wider audience, we’ll find more bugs. If you spot any, please just let us know! There are some known issues on very rare browser configurations that we’re looking to figure out the root causes of, so if you see anything funky happening when you use the tool, definitely let me know - you might be the key to some solutions!

Wow, lots of changes lately! Thanks, guys!

Thanks for letting us know!

Sweet! Thanks Anna!

Nice:slight_smile:

I can’t publish an article. I press publish but nothing happens.:frowning:

@Hinni Aw I’m sorry to hear that! Are you seeing any errors? There are a few errors that will prevent publishing by design - for example, if you don’t have enough words, or if you don’t have a main step (only bullet points). But in that case there will be a little bubble that tells you so. We’ve done testing in all the main browsers but there’s always a possibility that a particular configuration you’ve got isn’t working well with it. Frustrating for you, I’m sure - I’m sorry about that! Can you let me know what browser you’re on so I can test it, too? You can click this link and paste the result here: http://aboutmybrowser.com A screencast of what you are seeing would be really helpful to get to the bottom of it, too! Otherwise it’s hard for me or the engineers to figure out what’s going on. Do you think you could send one over?

Oh I see what you mean about the steps. Thank you:slight_smile:
