I think we have WAY too many of those. Half of them say the same things, but they stick around anyway. I think that we should weed out the good ones and delete the bad ones. There are so many of them, so readers won’t really be missing out. Thoughts?

This is an ongoing issue. We’ve had bazillions of “be popular” articles… and have deleted another bazillion of them. I’d recommend that we re-direct all “be popular” articles into ONE title to prevent this going forward. (Didn’t we do this back several years ago? ) We may have taken care of this at one point, only to have new authors just come up with more creative titles for writing about popularity… In any event, let’s redirect all of these “popular” titles into one or at most two titles. Enough already!
I think that it doesn’t send out a positive message either if we have all of these articles. Life isn’t about being popular, just do what you want! Therefore, wikiHow is getting a bad name for this. I suggest grouping them all together in three big articles at the most so that this doesn’t happen. Hannah
Yay! I thought I was the only one who thought this. I cringe every time I see these be a popular this that or the other article. Let me know what I can do to help and I’m on it.
I’d be willing to merge all the articles with some good articles. I really like Be the “It” Girl
. It’s helpful and it brought me to wikiHow.
What I don’t like is Become the Alpha of the School
. First of all, there is a definite difference between “alpha” and popular fashion girl. I believe this article is talking about being a fashion girl. Alphas are the ones who hate
fashion. I mean, who cares if you have bad handwriting or if you’re not up to trend? That doesn’t make you not an alpha! Alpha is all about the personality, not the looks. (Sorry for the rant. My article got deleted for being a duplicate of that article and I was not happy of my article being redirected to a fashion popular girl article. But I do have a point. BTW, my article is pasted as the second method, “Tomboy Alpha.” )

@Darkfrost
We could start a mini project like Anna’s 911 project or Krystle’s Community Quality Review. Except we merge all how to be popular topics with one main article. How to be popular. It can have multiple methods (Teens, school, gender) and stuff like that.

This might work, but since so many different articles would get merged to 4 or 5 that a bunch of people will not be able to do it at the same time.
Great idea
@OoT2D
To cover this we should maybe elect a group of people and split the array of articles into five or something which one or two individuals might work on each. @GamerKing123
. How does this sound, guys?

That sounds like a great idea. I think Hannah Banana (sorry I don’t know how to tag with the spaces) would be a great person if you’re up for it?

@Hibou8
, to tag with spaces, add a dash. Le: Hannah Banana xox becomes @Hannah-Banana-xox
.
That sounds great, Hannah, but I think we may need permission before starting to merge and delete articles. Besides, what happens in a merge? I’ve only had articles deleted, none merged.
I’ll ask @Anna
or @Krystle
and if they agree, we’re going to go ahead with this project.

Um…who are the members and leaders? *EDIT* @Darkfrost
, a merge is when two articles are similar but contain slightly different information and you mush them together. Like: Add a picture to wikiHow; take a picture for wikihow.
@OoT2D
, what I mean is how do you merge? Some bot, or do you do it manually? Anyway, to answer your question, that depends on who decides to join. If @Krystle
or @Anna
give permission, you should be seeing another thread on this.

You do it manually. We can recruite editors from the Merge Project.
Thanks. Congrats on becoming a Welcomer! Has Krystle replied to the NAB test yet? I have another month or so before I can retry.
