The meetup was *awesome*. I had such a good time seeing wikiHowians I’ve known for years and meeting some new ones too. It’s hard to describe how great it is to spend a whole weekend with other wikiHowians. It’s just amazing. I uploaded the photos I took here: https://plus.google.com/115355509510896551361/posts/ZCEuJnVhqML
Also @Ttrimm
posted some more artistic photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ttrimm/sets/72157634710526314/
I also uploaded the State of the Wiki presentation here. It starts at minute 8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLUyQp4iz_4
If you aren’t allowed access, follow me on Google+ then post your Google+ profile in this thread so I can add you. Would be great if others who attended added some thoughts or feedback on the meetup. Plus share your photos!

The meetup was so wonderful! Thank you to everyone who came out! Here’s a recap
On Thursday, Teresa @ttrimm
Jeff @isorhythmic
and I met up at SFO. Teresa flew in from Seattle and Jeff all the way from Cleveland. We picked up our rental car (wikiVan!) and drove out to Bolinas. Jack had warned us that the drive was winding, and he wasn’t kidding. It was beautiful, though! Anybody have pictures from the drive? When we arrived at the Bolinas wikiHaus, which was an incredible old house right next to the beach, Teresa and I went to dinner at nearby Stinson beach, then we braved the winding roads to get to the nearest Whole Foods so we could stock up the wikiHaus fridge. On Friday morning, we braved another dangerous route…busy downtown San Francisco! We met up with Nicole @elocina
at the Metreon (a mall in SF). It was a beautiful day and we sat outside, but a crazy lady started to get too friendly with Teresa, so we moved on. We had tea and ate at a “tea lounge” until Lojjik @sudoking
found us.
From there, we walked to our dinner destination, Jillian’s, and waited for everyone else to arrive. It was a pretty cool place! There was a pool table, so we played pool, badly (terribly, actually, except for Teresa who was pretty good).
Here we were joined by lots of wikiHowians: Mel/ @melganus
, Jack/ @jackherrick
, Betsy/ @dvortygirl
, Marina/ @Confusionist
and her awesome mom Vallyre, @Oliver
, Chris/ @xhohx
, Allie/ @Allie-J
, Gershon/ @Gersh
, and @Reuben
Reuben and Teresa played pool. They actually knew how to play. Reuben won, but only by a hair
From there, we all drove together to Bolinas. Some of us stayed at the main wikiHaus, but a handful of us stayed at wikiHaus #2
, which we rented a few miles away. Here’s a picture of Betsy playing her quena there:
The next day, many of us slept in. The tone of the day was very chill, just as we like it
We hung out and talked about wikiHow. We were joined that day by Lois/ @LoisWade42
, John/ @Colecrane
, Ron/ @Ron-D
, @Anna
, @Elizabeth
(and her husband and cute little girl), and Chris/ @Chris-H
and his wife and also cute little girl
Ron and Anna are both new additions to the wikiHaus who will be officially introduced soon, but they were super eager to meet the community and decided to make the drive out!
At one point, we went on a group walk into town, where we shopped for some local produce for breakfast the next morning and perused the Bolinas “freebox” (a very wiki concept!).
Group shot in front of the local shrine, which people put together randomly (again, a lot like a wiki!). From left to right: Mel, Marina, Nicole, Chris, Betsy, Jeff, me, Teresa, Jack and Lojjik.
In the afternoon, Jack did his “state of the wiki” presentation, which he linked to above, and then we went to dinner. Some people tried the local specialty, oysters (not me though!). From left to right: Me, Vallyre, Marina, Chris H’s little girl, Chris’ wife Erin, Ron, Chris, Lois, Betsy and Mel.
Jack and Lois, who drove down just for the day!
We also visited wikiHaus #2
as a group, many of the people from wikiHaus #1
wanted to check it out. It had trapezes in the living room! Apparently the previous owners were trapeze teachers.
That night, we played Apples to Apples until we fell asleep. It was fun!
On Sunday, many of us went to the Golden Gate bridge, but it was pretty foggy.
We crossed the bridge and went to Fort Point, which was really cool! At this point it was me, Teresa, Jeff, Anna, Mel, Chris, Nicole, Lojjik and Betsy.
From there, we had an obligatory In-n-Out burger. Oliver, who had to leave on Saturday morning, joined us for this ritual
Anna dropped Oliver, Betsy and Lojjik off at the train station, while Jeff, Teresa, Nicole and I went to the airport, and before we knew it, the meetup was over. Sigh. We’re already talking about the next meetup, though. We’ve even picked the dates. Mark your calendars! May 2-4. Somewhere in N. America, probably the eastern seaboard, but if you have suggestions, do post!
Thinking about coming to the next one! Will keep everyone in the family posted about it
WOW! Lovely!
I like that. Now I have to wait for a meet up in Asia

Sounds like you guys had an awesome time! Wish I could have been there. The pictures are great too. As for the next meetup…I say come to Florida! Seriously there are too many things to do and places to see here.
(chanting) New York, New York, New York…
Thanks for the pictures! They look awesome… so do the green wikiHow shirts! I’d like to suggest Vancouver again
@JackHerrick
On your album, photo #27
has a cool-looking computer screen. What’s up with that? Is it an engineer’s laptop?

I’m sure everyone else’s photos are better, but here are mine for good measure: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dvortygirl/sets/72157634745613290/
Fun weekend, all. Thanks!
I had a great time, and thought the event was really well-organized. Can’t wait for the next one!

Here are my photos; sorry for the delay in getting them up. There are a couple of the drive that @Krystle
requested. You can see how close the road is to the water, but they don’t show how curvy the road is as it goes through the hills. http://www.flickr.com/photos/85532532@N02/
I forgot to say, nice recap! Will definitely attend the next one in May. Looking forward to it.
