I didn’t feel right putting this in the village pump since it’s a bit casual… I think we’re about ready to start our first contest; I want to do one on the Best Article where people make articles and we vote on which one is best. I haven’t made it official we want to start one but could the forums be a place to vote? Make a ‘Voting’ thread? That would also make it possible for me to win some even though I won’t enter this one as that would seem a little bit contradictory. So anyone think we should have a set of judges? Maybe instead we could make a forum for people to vote on? Anyway, the whole awards and contests thing is a little weird right now…Some contests links send you to a funny page, too. I’m quite tired so this is all a little bit babbled but thanks for those who followed along. Here’s the things I’m looking for ideas on: 1) How to Vote 2) Which contests should we do in which order? 3) How frequent should we have contests? 4) Prize ideas? 5) Should people be in charge of one specific contest? 6) How should we advertise? Is a thread good enough? What we’ll need help on: 1) Updating how to enter and the whole general page of contests 2) Templates 3) Banners which may be used as ‘rewards’ 4) Running the contests? 5) Advertising! Do you want this to be entirely inter-wiki based, or would something external and custom to make voting private be better?

Hmm, it’s possible to make it all done wiki-based but as for voting if we were to get together voters and have them email or something…That’s where I get lost, I think maybe the ‘voters’ could vote through emails or forums? But then some would claim it to be ‘rigged’ or something of that sort… I’m still a little sketchy on that whole part; email seems hectic but then again forums would cause people to throw fits over who votes for whom. I can look for a place to vote externally, that would be easier…I want to see how this weekend one goes so I think I’ll set that one up as a both email and forum one where everyone can vote; Email me if you want it to be private or post on forums if you want it to be public but I’m not sure yet. I think I need to find a separate platform to have voting on. ~Confusionist
