Hi! I am a clicker trainer, but I love to debate-- not argue-- about dog and animal training to see how I can improve. This philosophy is inspired by “If you put five dog trainers in a room, the one thing they will all agree on is what the others are doing wrong.” I think this needs to be obliterated… instead, we should come together to talk about what has worked for us. Please share your thoughts, balanced, positive reinforcement, cross-over, compulsion-based, and clicker trainers! There is no judgement here.
I know some simple training techniques
- Heel – With the dog at knee level on your left side and the leash in your hand, start walking with your left foot first as you give the “Heel” command, using the dog’s name. …
- Sit – Simply hold a treat toward the back of his head as you say, “Sit” with the dog’ name
. …
- Stay – Start with your dog in the sit position.
