Fanfictions are… pretty weird. A good majority of them are hard to comprehend, usually about shipping, or flat-out pornographic. But occasionally, I find one where I just sit back and think, “There’s no way that was written by a gushing fangirl/fanboy.” The one I’d like to talk about is Fallout: Equestria, by Kkat. I’ll try not to spoil anything. This is a cross-over between Fallout and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I assumed it would just be a swap of the roles, and place MLP characters in the Fallout storyline. Oh boy, was I wrong. Fallout: Equestria focuses on a set of OC’s 200 hundred years after the events of the MLP timeline (I wanna say, somewhere around season 2?). It completely shatters the frame of the Fallout story, and rebuilds it in a surprisingly original manner. It has really clever references to Fallout 3 (and New Vegas), as well as MLP (I didn’t catch as many of those, being a relatively new brony). Now, I loved this for a lot of reasons. The plot is 100% original. No stock characters or arch types (well, for the most part). The themes are consistent and thought-provoking. The characters are realistic, and believable. I could go on. There are a few spelling errors which aroused the grammar Nazi in me, but there’s not a lot. Just… you know, enough to irk me. The story weaves in inconspicuous ways of foreshadowing events with clues having seemingly no relevance. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it is just so freaking epic! I mean, it’s dark, it’s violent, but it’s still just one of those things that gets your gears turning (like V For Vendetta or Lord of the Flies). It is definitely a good read, and I highly recommend it. For those hoping for a quick read, it’s longer than the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so it might not be for you. But please note, for those considering reading, it is a graphic story. I have prepared a short list of what awaits for you below: Blood and gore, violent and gruesome images, scenes of horror, intense sequences of sci-fi/fantasy action, harsh language throughout, drug/alcohol usage, sexually explicit material, and violent themes involving children (including murder, torture, rape, and cannibalism). This fanfiction is suited for mature readers aged 17+ (I’m only 15, but… oh well). If you’re fine with going through all of that, then okay. Not everyone will enjoy it. In fact, some of you might be disgusted by it. And, that’s okay, I guess. Really, it does feature a lot of terrible, horrible things. But that’s what makes it so dark and thrilling. And I’m not saying I approve of any of these things. I don’t. But it adds to the sense of realism, and the fact that Kkat wasn’t afraid to show these things in Fallout: Equestria makes it one of the greatest fanfictions, in my opinion. Anyway, to get to my original question, do you have one of those favorite fanfictions, and if you do, what makes it so special? Leave your comments below.

hello

Hello, Nathan!

i made a new discussion on the forum it is: i’m thinking of a number between…

Nathan, please stay on-topic. If you want to chat with users, you can do so in the WikiTwitter thread . Your gamerclub thread was closed for going off-topic, and I don’t want this thread to be closed as well.

I don’t have any favorites anymore, as my favorite author deleted all her works, but I used to know quite a few like that. I know there was one I never got to reading that a lot of Harry Potter fans were into called the Shoebox Project involving the lives of the HP characters from Harry’s parents’ generation, it was extensive, detailed, and did not seem like the work of a gush fangirl/fanboy, as you put it. Then again, that’s also how I began writing when I was younger, first gushing fanfics, then not so gushing fanfics, then fanfics that make you wonder why someone’s writing a fanfic when they could be writing original fiction, and eventually onto my own fiction pieces.
