I’m getting terrible lag both on the Forums and wikiHow. Anyone else getting this?

Me too. And the forums occasionally freeze the entire thing and I have to restart my IPad:frowning:

I’m having this issue also. I am getting “wikiHow offline” page very often while searching using Special:Search. Special:Userlogin is also very slow.

Same. (not on the wikiHow site, just the forums. Anna told me we can’t do anything about the forums because it is by another forums site (Vanilla). I had 31 notifications over a few weeks because I couldn’t get to my notifications. it takes tooo long.

Reuben is working on backing up some images on the server, and he thinks this might be causing some slowness. Sorry for the lag and gnomes! No fun, I know:confused: @IamSH The Special:Search is always a really heavy page in terms of load, and will give you a lot of gnomes and might have other implications in overloading the system, too. I know it can help find some hard-to-locate articles sometimes, but when you can, it’s much better to use the built-in search at the top of the page (at least better to try that first). @Anna I don’t use Secial:Search for all types of search. I am using it twice, or thrice a week to search for “Most Possible Vandalized Pages” (that’s name I have given to the section in Mylinks), which has links like: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=default&search=“Insert+non-formatted+text+here”&fulltext=Search - To search “Insert non-formatted text here” in articles http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&profile=default&search=“Insert+formula+here”&fulltext=Search - To search “Insert formula here” in articles … I think I have to go back to Google for this. Built-in search doesn’t do well for searchs like these.

Gotya – well hopefully when the images aren’t being backed up, it’ll work okay again for fixes like that! I’ve just been advised by the engineers to use it only sparingly. But this sounds like a good reason, when we’re out of gnome land!:slight_smile:

On occasion, I’m getting the “wikiHow offline” page, when opening up the forums, though I’m stated to be online on the site. I log out of the site, and log back in, open the forums, and I’m logged back into both.

I am experiencing some slowness too, and got the gnomes a while ago.

I’m having the same problem. The forums lag when I use them.
