I bought my baby guina pig 5 days ago in petco. I brought her home with a squinted eye. The next day her eye was completly shut I had to open it for her. I took her back to petco seeing if they can help her and they said theylle take her to the vet and give me a call. Ive been crying because I researched and Im thinking it might be upper respiratory infection. Please tell my if my little lulu  will be fine. Shes a girl.

Your mistake is buying a pet rather than adopting… As you never know their backgrounds, shops like petco hide records and lie about these things they don’t even take animals to the vet just to save a few bucks…

All you can do now is take your guinea pig to a separate vet (preferably a vet ran by a no-kill shelter or similar) and get the best help for it but your pet will probably not have had vaccinations or any vet help whatsoever so just do what you can

Adopt, don’t shop!

Ohh that’s so sad @S_nister .

It sounds like, from the information, that Lulu could be 50/50 okay or not.She is a baby, and she may not have had her vaccinations, so her immune system won’t be strong enough to fight off an infection like that.

However, Vets can sometimes be miraculous workers with animals. It depends who you took her to. But all you can do is hope that the Vet knows what he/she is doing and tries everything.

And yes, I agree with @WarriorOfEden ’s advice with pets. Don’t buy guinea pigs and that from shops like Petco. Only fish and sometimes birds. Adopting is the best way to know the pets’ history, vaccination record, vet checks, where they come from etc.

Hope Lulu will be alright! Good luck:slight_smile:

Don’t get any pets from shops…for fish get them from someone you know and trust or a private and specialist shop that sells aquatics and/or exotics (check their customer reviews, etc before visiting).

^ exactly what I was thinking
