How to archive your talkpage

For the future reference ( @Puppies568 and all others who seek The Archive), the article on archiving makes it sound a lot more difficult than it really is. Instructions? Here we go. 1) Go to your talk page and highlight your messages, scrolling down to the bottom to cover all of them. 2) Right-click and select ‘copy’. 3) In another tab, browse to (type in the search bar above) www.wikihow.com/User:Yourusername/Archive1 * 4) This is where I always screwed up. Click on ‘talk’, but don’t leave yourself a talk page messages with those messages!It then designates one archive for every message you put here. Click ‘talk’ and then ‘edit’. Paste the messages THERE. 5) Type {{talkarchive}} at the top of that page, preview and publish. 6) Return to your original talk page (the one you copied those messages for, and (they should still be highlighted), delete 'em. 7) Put {{archive}} at the top. Voila! It’s as simple as copying & pasting, and y’know? It took me four months to get that. *Or whatever archive number you’re on.

Alternately, wikiHow saves everything in page history, so it is unnecessary to archive messages. Simply click “Edit” then remove all content. You may create links to the history of your talk page if you desire.
