Hey guys, this idea just kind of popped into my head. I was thinking, maybe we could offer two versions of articles - a “reader’s view”, which condenses construction templates into clearly visible but less overwhelming icons, and an “editor’s view”, which shows everything an editor could possibly need.

I know that this probably needs a lot more work, but I will edit it later. Please note that it may take me a few days to get back to the forums.

One of the purposes of the template is to let readers know that we’re aware of issues with the article and have tagged it to be fixed at some point. I think without some cue of this, someone may be led to believe that the article represents our quality standard.

That said, template text is ugly but as of yet I don’t see a very obvious way to hide the text without also obscuring its meaning (maybe the template is for a title change, but the reader notices copyedit errors as well). A bunch of symbols at the top of the article is hardly to be noticed.

It’s hard to visualise this from a vague description, though, and if you could depict this in some way, I’d be curious to see what it’d look like.

@GotzeFan I don’t really comprehend your idea very well. Could you explain further?

Sorry guys - will come back on this later. I’m a little busy now.

The maintenance templates are condensed into an ‘issues’ menu on wikiHow’s mobile site .

I’m not sure if this is really needed, but it could be helpful. I think the templates are okay the way they are though, but they can be discouraging to other new users.

I am not sure it is required but looks very interesting of having 2 templates
