Machine translators are extremely inaccurate and I would highly suggest NOT using them. Chances are little that someone who knows Spanish will even understand it completely. If you like, our best English - Spanish human translator on wikiHow would be http://www.wikihow.com/User:Alhen

I have used Google Translate to add articles to French wikiHow and was told to stop. It takes a long time to fix the inaccuracies of machine translators. I appreciate that you want to help build Spanish wikiHow, but your approach may do more harm than good.

Yes, please do not use machine translators like Google or Bing to translate English articles to another language. Native Spanish speakers tell us that reading those machine translated articles is terrible. If you actually are fluent in Spanish, well then please do help translate the articles yourself, but please don’t use a machine to do it. Our Spanish speaking readers will thank you for not doing machine translation. Thanks
I help support our non-English wikis. I know from the native-language contributors there (as well as my own knowledge of Spanish) that machine-translated articles are not helpful to readers. Unfortunately, there are no automatic translators that do a good enough job to even serve as helpful starting points for articles; as such, our admins usually have to delete those articles. It’s also important to note that sites that contain a lot of machine-translated content are more likely to be considered spam sites by search engines (populating sites with such content and slapping up ads is a common spammer technique). This means adding auto-translated articles to the non-English wikiHow sites is actually likely to hurt them and possibly, wikiHow itself (since we host everything on the main wikihow.com
domain). I appreciate the desire to help wikiHow grow to be successful in other languages, but unfortunately, adding machine-translated content does not help, and may hurt. Please don’t do it. To really help out on those sites, you need fairly advanced proficiency in the language. It will take us a while to get the sites built out when the work has to be done by people rather than bots, but that’s how we built English wikiHow
I would say that the best way to help Spanish wikiHow is to reach out to Spanish speakers you know and try to get them involved.

I cannot help in language translation, unless there happens to be a Latin version of wikiHow… (That would be pronounced vikiho, with a long o sound…)

I have to be against the translator here
I use it for homework sometimes *sheepish look* and it really does suck. Question for anyone: How much of wH is in Spanish? Are a good bit of the articles translated?

it has around 3,000. Not very close to the English version. There is a lot of articles to be translated.

There could also be some articles that they have on the Spanish wikiHow that they don’t have on the English wikiHow, if you get what I mean. =)

Wow… wouldn’t it be GREAT if foreign language instructors in English speaking countries used wikiHow for their students to translate as an assignment… and then checked/graded upon completion? I’ll mention it to the Spanish and French Instructors around here and see what happens.

Is there a Russian wikiHow? In school I take Russian for electives and I know a LOT of Russian.
