Lately, I’ve noticed an issue on wikiHow that has gone relatively unnoticed. There are way, way too many articles on one topic! To give an example, take a look at the Bedroom Cleaning
section and see how many articles there are on one topic! I just chose that category, but there are many more topics. I propose a mass merge project. It might take a while, but in the long run, it will significantly improve the quality of wikiHow. I’m not sure how to merge myself, so I’d appreciate the help of an experienced merger so I can participate, too. Thanks!
Sounds good! Here’s an article that should guide you along the path of merging.
Why don’t you post groups of articles that you’d like us to merge? That could save some serious time. http://www.wikihow.com/Merge-a-wikiHow-Article
Quick Note: The posts above are not really as old as it says they are. I edited them because my project is closed and I wanted to save confusion and space.
Have you been reading the other posts on merging?? People have noticed.
@Ttrimm
What posts on merging?
Admittedly, now that I think of it, they were just on creating a merge tool, but they are there and, at least some of us, are well aware.
I’ve read the posts on a merge tool, if that’s what you mean.

I am curious just how many articles that they think need to be merged?
Chris told me that there are over 12,000 articles.

And that figure is entirely inaccurate. The actual figure is around 1,000, if http://wikihow.com/Category:Merge
is to be believed.
@Mrappbrain
I was told that 1,000 is inaccurate.

The maximum articles listed on one page is 1,000. When you remove something from the list (removing a template, etc), the #1
,001 article shows up. 12,000 is more accurate.

Also, those 987 articles that you see listed, are ‘problem’ articles. That is nowhere near the actual number. My personal guess is it is well over 10,000.

don’t mean to get anyone’s hopes up… but there’s 2,944.
