I recently completed part one and two of the NAB test. I passed the first NAB test and the second part via E-Mail. I was asked 13 questions and I was told that I did not pass. I got 3 questions wrong. I think at three questions, I should be put on a trial. I’ve tried to become a NAB many times and I’m starting to get very discoraged after waiting over 6 months. What are your thoughts and what do you think is just or unjust?
I do not see anything that could be just about part two. Part one is just, since it was much easier to pass. I took part two TWICE and was told that I did not pass. The first time I got several wrong, and I can see that. But the second time, only four were wrong. Very discouraging. I think that it should be 5 questions or below wrong that you advance to part 3. Otherwise, that part needs to meet a ‘washing machine of doom’ or be destroyed by a shredder.
Thank you for your comments.
As far as I can remember, you need a score of 80% to pass the NAB test. This means you are allowed to get 2 questions wrong.
How is the process unjust? It is extremely fair. Either you get a question correct, or you get a question incorrect. The limit on the number of questions you can get wrong is so that potential Boosters can prove that they know the policies and wikiHow really well. If we allowed Boosters to pass by getting a 62% percent (8 out of 13 correct), then we are giving people with a subpar knowledge of policies access to an extremely important tool. We need people to be at their best when using this tool.
If you’re getting questions wrong, study. That’s all there is to it. The test isn’t meant to discourage you; it’s meant for you to prove yourself. Review what you got wrong and how, and work to get it right the next time.
It’s like writing a test to get your driving permit. In my province, we’re only allowed to get 4 wrong. I wrote that test three times, and got five wrong each time. I looked at what I got wrong; and I studied again and again. On the fourth time, I passed with 100%.

Everybody gets the same test, everybody gets pass or failed in the same way. It would be unfair for me to pass you on to part 3 and hold you to an easier standard than others who’ve taken the test simply because you feel discouraged.
Part 2 consists of policy questions. All of the questions are very clearly linked to something stated in one of our policies, which I link to. Many people pass part 2 of the test and move on to part 3.
I don’t provide answers to the incorrect questions in part 2 because, unfortunately, I’ve had too many issues with people sharing the answers and cheating. However, I do think, with how many people pass part 2, that it should be easy to understand why your answer was incorrect if you look closely again at the policies. There have also been many people who took part 2 again and passed the second time around after doing just this.
I hope this clarified a few things!
Boosters are members of the community who are trusted to have solid understanding of the policies. While refinement of understanding comes through use of the booster tools, any major confusion about the policies should be cleared before actually becoming a booster. In my opinion, 80% on the test is fair and reasonable. As a matter of fact, I have had to help two wikiHowians who had passed all three booster tests (and had become boosters) come to the understanding that duplicates are judged on the basis of the title, not on content. This distinction is something that a booster is expected to have a firm grasp of before assuming boosterhood, yet both instances were like pulling teeth. Bottom line: I believe the second booster test to be fair and reasonable. ___________________________ @McDonalds
