Recently, I was asked this question by a new user.

I don’t know the answer to this, so I posted here. Could someone please help out? Thanks!

The user is asking if it’s possible to change the contributors on the article, so it says his/her username (as opposed to his/her IP address/“anonymous”) started the article. As far as I know, the answer is that it isn’t possible, however, he could put on his/her user page “article-started by me as an anonymous user.”

It might be possible if it has received no/few edits since creation. Can you get the author to Talk Page message me with a link to the article? (I’m at work and can’t start a long search/investigation.)

@Davecrosby I have asked him to contact you but haven’t heard a reply yet.

Super, they need to be around to do anything, so we’ll wait.

Hey @Davecrosby ! Is it possible to make that user the author of that article?

Not in an elegant way, @IamSH . If an article were freshly created with no significant edits by others then we could have the author create a temporary/blank article in their logged-in name, copy the content from the original to it, delete the original, rename the temporary as the original.

Thank you @Davecrosby . I get it.
