What things/events do you consider as nostalgic? It can be anything from any period of time, like 2000s nostalgia or pre-COVID nostalgia.

I don’t really get that anymore but I used to, because it died down in my area (it’s still endemic but we have no restrictions and stuff)

What were some things that you guys did in your childhood? Maybe you watched a certain cartoon or went to this really cool park on the other side of the road.Another nostalgia-inducing topic could be pre-COVID stuff, or any 1950s-2000s childhood nostalgia.
Like what @Iamsanna_Fan_club
said, the ice cream truck’s near my area now! I can hear it’s iconic “Pop Goes the Weasel” music and other kid tunes coming
I remember one time when I was a little kid, my friend and I went to the park to play. Then, we heard the ice cream truck, and we immediately ran to it. Our poor parents had to catch up with us, and they told us to ask them first (which we totally forgot to do…) for permission to go to the ice cream truck.

Edit: So, does anyone have nostalgia? Like, have you watched a childhood cartoon, ate a certain food, or thought of a nice childhood memory? Maybe you could think of childhood friends, nice memories of vacation/school days, childhood cartoons, foods, advertisements, etc.
The nostalgia you feel when you listen to something you listened to back in fifth grade…
What I was listening to if anyone wants to know
This channel called Mr. Betts Class. Basically parodies about historical events like WW1 and 2, XYZ Affair, Civil War, etc. He doesn’t do these anymore- he has a new channel called Drawn Of History- but I honestly like the parodies better.
I first listened to them back in 5th grade after my teacher showed us the one about Space Race. Today I started listening to it again and it’s amazing how much better you understand it with three years’ knowledge. Nostalgic indeed.

Ok, I’m going to list random songs that are nostalgic to today’s teens (basically 2010s songs). And some of these songs are stuck in my head now… hopefully doing this is one way to get them out!
- Roarby Katy Perry (2013) - I used to hear this song when I was younger, and I didn’t think about the deep meaning of the lyrics. I just thought that it was a happy song about roaring… (LOLL) It’s supposed to be an encouraging song about being brave like a tiger.
- Gangnam Styleby Psy (2014) - I admit, I didn’t know that the English lyrics said “Ehhhh… sexy lady”
when I listened to this when I was younger! LOL… goes to show that childhood innocence is slowly disappearing since kids these days are exposed to YouTube (inappropriate stuff like Elsagate and supposedly kid-friendly cartoons in YouTube), politics, and violence!
- Uptown Funkby Bruno Mars (2014) - Oh dear, this song’s stuck in my head still

- Can’t Stop the Feelingby Justin Timberlake (2016) - I was a bit older when I heard this song, but it’s still pretty catchy and upbeat!
Lyrics to those songs that I remember the most
Uptown Funk
“…Michelle Pfeiffer
That white gold
Straight masterpieces
Stylin’, wiling
Livin’ it up in the city
…Gotta kiss myself I’m so pretty”
(Didn’t really notice the “kiss myself I’m so pretty” part until I was older…)
"I’m too hot (hot damn) (Didn’t know that “hot” meant attractive - I thought that the person was actually sweating hot… LOL)
Call the police and fireman
Too hot (hot damn)
…“Girls hit your hallelujah (ooh)
Girls hit your hallelujah (ooh)
Girls hit your hallelujah (ooh)
‘Cause uptown funk gon’ give it to you
‘Cause uptown funk gon’ give it to you
‘Cause uptown funk gon’ give it to you
Saturday night and we in the spot
Don’t believe me just watch (Come on)”
Can’t Stop the Feeling “I got this feeling, inside my bones.
…It goes electric, wavy when I turn it on”
“I got that sunshine in my pocket
Got that good soul in my feet
I feel that hot blood in my body when it drops
I can’t take my eyes up off it”
“And under the lights when everything goes
Nowhere to hide when I’m getting you close
When we move, well, you already know
So just imagine, just imagine, just imagine…”
“Nothing I can see but you
When you dance, dance, dance
Feeling good, good, creeping up on you
So just dance, dance, dance
Come on
All those things I shouldn’t do
But you dance, dance, dance
And ain’t nobody leaving soon
So keep dancing”
"I can’t stop the feeling
So just dance, dance, dance
I can’t stop the feeling
So just dance, dance, dance
Come on
"

This video made me have childhood nostalgia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAcS6E4njN4
Do any of the things in the video make you nostalgic? For me, some of the things didn’t apply to me (as I was a little kid when the 2000s ended, so I don’t have many memories of it), but the one about Clippy was something that I’d actually experienced.
My parents’ old computer was old, so whenever I looked at them use the computer, Clippy the assistant would pop up. When I was a kid, I didn’t know what Clippy was used for, so I clicked on it. Turns out it helped you use Microsoft applications.
The one about Windows XP also applied to me. Later, my own computer that I got as a kid was a Windows 7. Now, mine’s a Windows 10 machine, although I still have Windows XP + Windows 7 nostalgia!

This WatchMojo video took me back to my childhood! It’s this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia4IM-LM6MI
I remember back in elementary school, if it was raining, our PE would be indoors. We would basically move all the desks back to the four walls. Some desks were pushed against the whiteboard (1st wall).
Groups of desks were pushed against the storage cabinets and the small cabinets underneath the sink.
The back wall was where we put our backpacks- in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade we had cubbies (little cube-like storage spaces, although they were larger than pre-k or preschool cubbies to put our larger backpacks)- in 4th and 5th grade we just put our backpacks back in front of the coat hangers (little hooks that we would put jackets on)- we pushed desks there too.
The last wall was just a bulletin board with stuff we did this year so far on it, and desks were pushed against that wall too.
Anyways, in 1st-3rd grade our PE teacher would put on a random Just Dance song for us to dance to. They would search up “Just Dance” or “GoNoodle” (another thing similar to Just Dance) and put songs such as- “Just Dance- What Makes You Beautiful”
, “Just Dance- Ghostbusters”
, “Just Dance- Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae”
(which was really popular for some reason in our school during 1st-3rd grade), “Just Dance- What Does the Fox Say”
and “Just Dance- Dynamite”
for us to exercise to.
I also listened and danced to other Just Dance songs (examples include Katy Perry’s Roar
, Shakira’s Waka Waka (It’s Time for Africa)
, Boney M’s Rasputin
, We Speak No Americano
, Psy’s Gangnam Style
etc.)
A few days ago I searched up some Just Dance songs just for the visuals and found that there was a rickroll Just Dance
!
Oh my god, this post just reminded me of the Gonoodle videos we would watch in elementary school

Actually my school did that too
Our school had like a GoNoodle account, and we could exercise and get all our energy out! We would usually do GoNoodle or Just Dance during indoor PE/recess. If it was nearing break (e.g. the last week of school before winter break/summer vacation) then our teacher would put these on for like the whole week!
And we usually watched like MooseTube or something like that (searches it up)- yep! And also Koo Koo Kangaroo’s Pop See Koo! Oh and also KidzBop was on there- we danced to a song called Summer
on there
My search of “gonoodle songs” just gave me an instant of nostalgia!
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=gonoodle+songs
Edit: We also ran the red carpet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_GNRDic17E
Edit 2: For KidzBop we also listened to their original song (a song that the company made themselves)- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jgJ4asLeIA
Without listening to it now I think the lyrics were something like this:
“…You got a voice! You got a choice!.. Make some noise! Oooh oooh oooh ooh ooh!”
Decorating our Christmas tree, and of course we have a ton of ornaments with pictures from my childhood. We also have this one ornament shaped like the dress Cinderella wore to the ball (not the blue one, the pink one the mice fixed for her) and if you press a button it sings that song the mice did. Anyway I’ve just been pushing this button and reliving the years (I was probably around 8 or 9 when I declared myself “too old for princesses” and stopped watching cinderella and stuff)
Random elementary school (and middle school nostalgia):
Summary
Here are some random snippets of my nostalgic time in school. I won’t cover all the grade levels that I’ve been in for personal/privacy reasons. In the future, I may write about more school years (so stay tuned).
1st grade
In 1st grade(it’s been so many years already), I was a new kid at school. I remember some snippets of this year- mainly during the winter and spring plays we put on.
I also remember a bit during the last day of school, when I left early because our family was going on vacation (and we were going to the airport the next day).
2nd grade
In 2nd grade(I barely remember anything from this year), I remember a tiny bit
of Picture Day.
Our teacher was dressed elegantly, and I vividly remember what she wore- a floral dress, flats, and rich makeup. I also remember a frame of when we were doing oil pastel art in 2nd grade (and that’s literally all I remember).
3rd grade
In 3rd grademy friend moved. She was at my school for 1-2 months before she left. I originally planned to write a letter, detailing that I wished for her to stay and that she “shouldn’t go to her new school”, but then I forgot to give it to her when she left.
I’m grateful that I didn’t give that letter to her, since it was pretty embarrassing and self-centered. After she moved, I remember that I started to talk with more kids and “open up”. My friends changed a lot during this time, and I began to “settle down” during the last months of 3rd grade I think.
4th grade
In 4th grade, I knew most of the people in my class, as they were in my 1st-2nd grade classes. That’s probably why it was the best year of elementary school for me. I also starred as the main character in our class’s winter play.
During this year (idk when) I also… developed a crush
on someone in my class. He had been in the same class as me multiple times prior to this year. I guess it just took me a while to understand “romantic feelings”
.
There was one embarrassing moment related to this… it was break, and my friends and I were playing some sort of game. Then, everyone had to say who they had a crush on… and, me being extremely naive, said my real crush’s name
out loud (hopefully no one heard). My friends also said their “love interests” out loud, although nowadays I wonder if they randomly made one up on the spot. Maybe they didn’t even “fall in love” with the person that they said.
My friendship was the most stable during that year too. There was one “thorn” though- there was this one person in my friend group that was self-centered
, and we would argue with her.
We even got into an argument on the last week of school (at which point I actually said something in an argument for the first time- in earlier years I was really shy and naive, so I would just be a bystander during arguments).
5th grade
In 5th grade, it went a little downhill. I knew most of the boys in my class, but many of my friends were in a different class that year. The girls in my class weren’t my friends.
My friendships started to fall apart too, as my friends drifted apart. I was originally pretty sorrowful when this happened, and I would often follow them around to see if they would still ignore me. Sure enough, they ignored me and started to hang out with other people. Basically, at the end of 5th grade, I was a lonely kid (like in 2nd grade).
6th grade
In 6th grade, there was a new start. I was definitely extremely nervous on the first day- I remember a ton of details from that day- I was shaking and my heart was pounding as I went to my first class. I found that I was separated from a ton of my elementary school classmates. The people from my school were mostly in 1 class.
During that year, I learned a ton about how middle school worked. There were lockers, and you had to walk quickly to get to your next class. It was quite different from elementary school, where you stayed in 1 classroom for 1.5 hours, had a break, went to the same classroom for another 2 hours, had lunch, and stayed in the same classroom again for 2 hours until departure/clubs started. I made a ton of new friends (one of my old friends reconciled with me and joined our friend group, which was pretty nice).
Detailed Stuff that happened in prior school years
In around 2nd grade (a loooooong time ago compared to now!) I didn’t really know anyone well. My friends were in different classes than me, so during group projects where we could choose our partners, I had to pair up with girls that I didn’t really know well. Even though they were of the same gender as me, I still felt uncomfortable and that I couldn’t relate with them. It was pretty difficult back then- it probably explains why I barely remember anything from second grade. Like, I remember 1st grade more than 2nd grade (and obviously more from recent years like 3rd-5th grade and middle school).
A reason why I label 4th and 5th grade as the best school years is because all my friends were in that class. Plus, it was a mixture of interesting and energetic. My classmates weren’t mean to each other and people got along pretty well. I felt included back then, and it was a pretty cool time back then.
Just saw this on Imgflip and I remember every single one of these except for that big red ball

Surprisingly I haven’t done most of those things in elementary school. The only thing I really did in that picture was jump-roping for regular PE and for the “Jump Rope for Heart” activities, which donated money to the American Heart Association.
The large “blanket” thing in the top right corner was something I did in preschool. Also, I’m not sure what the bottom-left corner is. And I’m sure that I didn’t do the thing mentioned in the bottom-right (with the kids and the big ball). We started doing actual sports (flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, kickball) way back in 2nd grade when the school hired a wayyy stricter PE coach.
I’m looking at nostalgic stuff since I’m graduating soon (I’m really leaving my childhood this time)
So, I found this treasure of a song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y66j_BUCBMY&ab_channel=AmericanAuthorsVEVO
This song was played every single last week of school in elementary school for me. I remember we listened to the KidzBop version of this song and sang along to it when the school year was ending while we got summer treats like popsicles. It brings me really happy memories

I listened to a ton of music in the early 2010s, although I barely remember if I’ve heard some songs (they give me a deja vu feeling so I’m not sure).
I’m sure I listened to roughly 57-60 out of the songs in this list though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAL-mDvWJG0&ab_channel=Boogiehead
I know I didn’t listen to rap back then, so all of those were cancelled out (nor country or alternative stuff).
Maybe I should visit my old schools when I have time after I graduate. I have seen some alumni come to my school recently, and seems like they were pretty happy to come to a place of nostalgia and learning.
