I find this really annoying that only admins can only delete articles. Anyone else with me?

Nope. It would be a real zoo if everyone could delete articles.

  •  It is likely that any article that was the least controversial would disappear.
  • I can envision edit battles, controversy, and ill-feelings running like shock waves through the community.
  •  I am pretty sure the wikiHow policies would not be upheld and would be thrown into a state of flux.
    My opinion: It would be a disaster.

If you feel something should be deleted, tag it with NFD and it will go into NFD Guardian, where boosters and admins can vote on it. Or, if it’s serious enough, tag it with {{speedy}} and an admin will promptly take care of it.

It requires a good grasp of wikiHow’s policies to know what should be deleted and what should be kept, which is why the ability to delete manually is left to admins.

@Lojjik +1, then some!

@Alabaster True, but I was thinking that non-admins could delete, but have a time limit (only do it one every three weeks or something), not frequently like you explained. Also, maybe ones with a lot of views could not be deleted and you can only delete your own articles?

I do kinda agree that it would be crazy if everyone could though.

@SenpaiHugMe - The wikiHow community is based on a set of policies that the administrators are tasked to uphold. When a new article is published, the originator releases the article into the creative commons and is notified of the details of the release at that time. Any questions or reticence should be cleared before the article is initially published, but, after initial publication, policy controls deletion. However, sometimes special requests for deletion are honored if other community members have not contributed significantly to the article.

The system works well logistically and legally and, for there to be a change, the policy set would have to be revised, an arduous process. If you wish to pursue this, @Krystle can advise you on how to begin the process.

If we have a time limit, who knows what articles would be deleted? Also, just because one has a lot of views doesn’t mean it’s a good article. Plus, if you just made an article that, in the future, could be a rising star or featured article, it could be deleted.

Once you publish your article, it’s kinda not yours anymore. I think it’s sorta like the communities’ article, since this is a collaborative project and all.:slight_smile:

Ohh, okie.I understand:smiley:Well, I guess I’m gonna have to overwrite OvO

Excellent! In addition to overwriting the article, it is possible to request a title change using the instructions in  How to Request a Title Change for a wikiHow Article

Also, you can read up on the wikiHow policies here -  Policy . If you have further questions, a good place to ask is on the Help Team talk page .

not possible. There would be no articles left if everyone could just delete one!

HOW WOULD ANYONE GET TO USE WIKI HOW FOR ITS PURPESE?
