A friendly sock puppet wrote this article on visiting Bolinas: http://www.wikihow.com/Visit-Bolinas%2C-California It offers to important pieces of advice for people planning on joining us in Bolinas for the wikiHow meetup this weekend: 1. Bring winter clothes. It can get very cold and foggy in Bolinas. It might also be sunny and warm so be prepared for all weather conditions. 2. Cell phones are not reliable in Bolinas. There is good wifi at the house so plan on using Skype out, Google voice / hangouts, Apple face time, etc for your calling needs. Prepare to have fun. The meetup is going to be *great*. For those unable to attend the meetup, I’m hoping to hold a “state of the wiki presentation” on Saturday that we can broadcast on Google Hangouts for those who want to watch from afar. More info coming…

Can I watch it? I don’t have a webcam, though:frowning:

Oh, awesome! I can’t wait c: I checked the weather, and it looks like we’ve got 80 degree weather for the whole weekend. Anybody who’s been there before, can you tell me a bit on how it works, what to expect, and what to prepare for at the meet?

The most overused phrase on wikiHow: “Be yourself”. Bring no shame whatsoever and go home with memories.

I was really hoping to come to this meetup, but I don’t know if Krystle has written back to us (edit) on that. But, I’ll definitely stick around, and wait for the next meetup to come! ~

+1 You will have an amazing time. Aside from the activities, you’ll enjoy getting to know the people you’ve worked with online who are really cool, down-to-earth and fun to hang out with. Have fun!

@JackHerrick Can the presentation be viewed online? I’d sure love to watch it!

@MatthewMiles02127 You only need a webcam if you wish for other people to see you. If you don’t have one connected, it’ll show your Google+ avatar instead. You are also not required to talk/have a mic… all the group sessions in the past has had some kind of type-chatting as well.

You are definitely invited to the meetup! Can you join us? If you can’t make it in person, I am hoping to broadcast my “state of the wiki” talk on Saturday. You will just need internet and a Google plus account to participate. No webcam needed.

@JackHerrick Would it be possible to record the webcast for later viewing, if it’s not too complicated of a process? Unfortunately I can’t tune in on Saturday but would still like to watch your presentation.

“You are definitely invited to the meetup! Can you join us?” I just emailed my parents as a quick reminder…though we only have 4 days! I’d like to meet @Krystle , @Confusionist , @Jordan , you, @ttrimm and so many other people in person…maybe I will someday. I love collaborating with everyone on this wiki and hope never to leave!

@Adelaide1230 I sent you an e-mail invitation in June, and I never got a reply from you. You’re definitely still invited! Let me know what your parents say!

Do we have a list of attendees yet? I’ll be coming out Saturday at least… possibly Friday evening if all goes well.

They sent you an email, but I guess you never responded? Maybe I could spend a little time (just one day, and then come back home?)

My parents said two things about future wikiMeetups 1:I have to wait until I’m 16 2 I have to wait until there’s one in either: Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, or Montana. So looks like I’m out.

As long as I have the exact time of the virtual “state of” on Hangouts, I’d be in to watch it. Now that I have a reliable computer, I can get on to watch those and really participate in one finally. Need 48 hours worth of scheduling time to see my exact availability time for the virtual meeting.

Same here. I think this is a great option for those who want to watch but can’t. Perhaps record the screen and upload it as a private link-only YouTube video?

I’m on G+ on Saturdays anyways… just need the time so that I can tweak things.

Here is the confirmed attendee list. It would be great if we got some last minute additions too! LoisWade42 Isorhythmic ttrimm Oliver Confusionist SudoKing Dvortygirl xhohx Melwade MelissaGanus JackHerrick Chris-H Krystle Plus we are going to have a few staff wikiHaus folks show up for dinner on Friday and parts of Saturday too. If you are a wikiHow editor and think you can make it to San Francisco, we’d love to welcome you too!

I probably won’t be able to make it right THIS time, but I might be available for the ‘state of the wiki’ talk.:wink:Maybe I can come to, or set up, another meetup next time or when I’ve been on wikiHow a few years after this!
