Maybe we could have something a bit like RC patrol for the forums? Ways it could possibly be helpful: 1. Admins would be able to see the dates of when a forum was last commented on and know if a recent comment was a bump. 2. We would be able to see spam threads instantly. 3. We could see abusive/spammy comments, and edit/roll them back. 4. We can see if threads were miscategorized and fix them. Since this commands a lot admin attention, and because there’s so much good info that can easily be rolled back by careless users, maybe only admins and trusted users could do this and not anyone?

@OoT2D This isn’t really necessary and probably impossible to make. There is practically always an admin around to take a look on the forums. If there are emergencies that need immediate attention from an admin you can simply either post a message on the talkpage of an admin or go to the admin board or if it’s really urgent go to irc and ask help there.

Not too sure if this is needed. The forums run on Vanilla software, not MediaWiki, and for experienced admins, moderation is a fairly easy task. Clicking the All Discussions tab brings up a chronological list of threads, with the stickied threads at the top, and then all other threads listed according to the timestamp of the last post. This allows us to easily spot forum spam because they stand out.

It would get rid of spammy threads, but probably take AGES though. Think of the amount of work going in, too much. I don’t think it is really necessary. Also quite likely very difficult/practically impossible to set up. Nice idea though!

I honestly do not think this is necessary. I may be mistaken, but don’t think there has ever been a spam thread up longer than an hour, tops. It’s quite simple to deal with spam attacks. We block the spammer, and delete the threads. There’s usually always an admin online, so if you notice a spam attack, notify an Admin via their talk page or through the admin board.
