If you don’t know yet, the Patrol Coach leaves a message to new patrollers when they select the wrong button. This is the message that shows right now:
In this message, the Coach does say “I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about patrolling.” This isn’t possible, since the Coach is a bot, and when patrollers go to the talk page, it states that it won’t be able to answer any questions.
A few years back when the Coach was implemented, a former wikiHow Community Manager/Krystle was used before the Patrol Coach user page was made, which can be seen below (and here for someone who got the Krystle Coach message)
:
I would like to see this message line “I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about patrolling.” to “If you have any questions about patrolling, don’t hesitate to ask the Help Team
.” Here’s an example, if this proposal works (the Help Team talk page would be linked):
Any community consensus before Jayne decides to change it would be appreciated.

I think this would be a welcome change, since bots can’t answer user questions.

I think this can be changed, too. I was just thinking of it some days ago and then thought that I’ll shut my stupid mouth

It also has some structural formatting problems if you read the wikiText behind the message - a welcome fix to look into when making those changes - if accepted. Open up any Patrol Coach message that’s being used and you’ll see how badly spaced it is in the wikiText on the Talk page of a patroller.

Agree with this.
Why do I have the vague memory of me talking to bots suddenly appear?

I thing that this would be a good change.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m fairly certain the Patrol Coach talk page isn’t monitored, so such a change would be beneficial.

I would also be in support of making this change.

It seems like with everyone approving this decision, I’ll send the request tomorrow to change the Coach’s message for Jayne.

Sorry about the late reply - got a little carried away with letting you know that Staff was watching that page and totally forgot to answer what this page was really referencing.
I do support the change - though I do think it’ll take more than just a simple edit to change the message and fix the issues as they come up on Users’ talk pages.
