Today when I was writing How to Convert an Airsoft AEG to an HPA  (which you should totally check out :P) I thought about what it would be like if there was a Q and A widget. If a reader had a question about an article, they could go to this widget and ask it. All questions would be reviewed for quality, and anyone who knew the question could answer. It was just something I thought up, and I’m curious to hear your thoughts on it!

I like the idea. Those questions could give us more steps to include in the article itself, if they are helpful and relevant questions.

I know some people ask these questions in the discussion pages, but not everyone looks there. And then there could be a page that lists all the Q’s that have been reviewed for quality and answer them. Then they could be added to the article.

It’s an interesting idea that requires some thought. We have the discussion pages for a reason, but as Leah mentioned, some are not answered. But we can have the wikiHow docs take charge of that instead of placing Q&A tabs in the articles. The docs could have questions saying:

Which article? “Article written here”

Questions:

**“How can we improve in our articles?”

**“Is the quality improving in our pictures? If not, how?”

**“What lead you to read our article?”

It takes time to place QA tabs on every article, and by going to the docs, and writing the article title, it’s easier that way. Is anyone confused by the thoughts? The idea is really good, but the docs could take care of this.

@DragonZKai7 By docs do you mean the question we see at the end of the article, ‘Did you find the article helpful’… I was wondering where the comments mentioned there goes. Could we read our own comments mentioned at the end of the article?

@Vishwavijay , no I don’t mean those docs. I mean these docs: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1on5bIO6yLeR4Zlvx71e9meoiBOy9ljnx0tRLQo9pMu8/viewform . But with the questions about the article.

Oh @DragonZKai7 Now I get it, Thanks.

Thinking again - we do have that section. At the end of the article, (thanks @Vishwavijay ) it says “Did you find the article helpful”. You chose yes or no and state your thoughts so this idea may not be necessary since we already have it.

@DragonZKai7 Hmmm I want to know where I can find the feedback received at that section. I give a lot of feedback there. But this may be off topic, so I am worried.

@Vishwavijay , this discussion lets us give our thoughts.

After giving your feedback at the end, I want to know how many users and anons actually use the “Did you find this article helpful” feedback box. How can we calculate the percentage of users who use these boxes because I’m figuring less that 65% I guess. When you log out, can you see the docs link in the upper right hand corner? I’m not so sure. I’m thinking you have to be a registered user to go to the docs?

@DragonZKai7 Thanks. I feel confident about posting my concern now.

Okay, I just logged back to put this comment that I just found a a a widget or whats its called, it was at the end of an article, like a circle which said something like do you have any questions… I clicked on it and it provided me with textboxes for putting the question. So we do have NOW a Q and A section to begin with.

That’s great, @Vishwavijay ! So if we do have these QA sectons, there’s no need for the docs. Kevin, we proved we have a QA section which is at the end of the article.

@DragonZKai7 I am sorry as this discussion is getting stretched but I had to state that that Q/A box is not available all the time. It shows selectively only like that widget that shows at time, “could you write an article?”

Wait, could someone explain to me what this thread is about? I kinda don’t get it. What’s the idea?

@Worldsgreatestnerd This is it. A place to ask questions in the articles.

@DragonZKai7 I understand your reasoning for the discussion pages, but as anons can no longer post on them, there is now way for them to ask questions. Yes it is about making our articles better, but I believe it is more about the readers than anything.

I agree completely, Kevin. The readers should have the best experience as they read our articles. @Vishwavijay , so as an anon, you can’t see the box? I think I remembered seeing the box in the past as an anon. But I do remember seeing three boxes saying if I could write an article on a topic.

@DragonZKai7 Yes, usually after an article there are usually a few boxes that say do you know anything about _____, and anything that gets put in it is reviewed in the Knowledge Guardian tool.

@DragonZKai7 As an anon its just as we all see as users. The alert message at the end of an article which changes randomly like (Are you a doctor? Help millions) This message keeps changing and in this space is where I saw that ‘‘Ask a question’’ box. I cant say if it is visible to anons or not.
