When you run the quality guardian tool, you have the option to review three types of contributions: videos, images, and RC patrols. Guarding quality for videos and images is pretty straightforward, to me anyway; If the image or video belongs, you say yes. If it doesn’t belong, you say no. However, the RC Patrol part of QG is a little bit more confusing, and I have a few questions…for instance: If you review a patrol of vandalism and the user who patrolled it removed the vandalism, do you say yes it should have been patrolled…or no, it shouldn’t have been patrolled? If you review a patrol of vandalism that a user patrolled through WITHOUT removing the vandalism, should you simply disapprove of it or should you both disapprove of it as well as remove the vandalism at that time? If two people disapprove of a patrol, the QG is supposed to automatically remove the edit/vandalism. If this vandalism was already removed prior to the final vote, does it simply ignore the edit and do nothing, or does it attempt to replace the current version of the specific article with a rolled back edition from prior to the vandalism? If you say “yes” to a specific patrol, it appears that it automatically approves it with only one person reviewing the edit through QG…unlike the videos and images, which require two people to approve it. However, you still need two people to say “no” to the patrol in order for it to be reverted. Am I correct in this? Last, how/when does the QG number change? (on the community dashboard) The other day I reviewed around 800 contributions through the QG and the number on the dashboard never changed…in fact, it ended up going up in the minutes and hours after, presumably due to new uploads and patrols. If I need to reword any of that just ask… I’m just curious what kind of impact the QG has on RC Patrols, as I would imagine that a large amount of the 4,400 unreviewed contributions right now on QG are in fact patrols. Thanks!

@Maniac stole the words right out of my mouth.:expressionless:

@Maniac & @JKL1234 : Is patrolling patrols only for admims?

I thought it was released for everyone after testing…unless I read incorrectly. Try going to: http://www.wikihow.com/Special:QG If that opens click “Change options” towards the top right of the page and see if it gives you the option to choose Images, Videos, and/or RC Patrol.

@Maniac : It only gives me the options between videos and images. There is no option for RC for me. Is this a bug? It sounds like @JKL1234 has the option, but he’s not an admin or NABer, like me. Maybe @Krystle or @Maluniu knows.

QC Patrol is admin-only.

Oh… maybe this thread should be somewhere else then. I wasn’t aware of that, my apologies…I thought everyone could do both edits and pics/videos.

@Maniac You’re a bit rusty aren’t you lol

I have the same issues @Maniac has with this tool. For the cases he quotes I skip in every instance.

Yeah…a bit. I’m easing back into this wiki thing as quickly as I can, lol. Two years separation wears on your memory a little bit!

I want to try this and the NFD Guardian!:expressionless:

This tool isn’t done yet! It’s only on the live site by accident. I don’t recommend using it in it’s current state.:slight_smile:I’ll announce on the forums when this tool is ready for prime time. Till then, I’d recommend just doing Quality Guard for images and videos. QG for RC patrol will be fun when it’s ready. But we aren’t there yet.:slight_smile:That said, if you already like the tool feel free to use it. You won’t break anything…but don’t expect anything productive to happen when you click “no” yet.
