In NFD Guardian, I am seeing a huge number of articles nominated for deletion on the basis that they lack accuracy. Some of them are a bit stubby or have poor formatting or grammar, but have a great, non-duplicate title that could, potentially, house highly useful content. I hate to unilaterally undo the NFD|ACC tag by replacing it with the appropriate tags calling out the needed improvements, but that is what I feel needs to be done in many of the cases.

I was wondering what options others might suggest.

Can the accuracy problems be fixed with editing, or is the article accurate, just not complete? If so, vote against the deletion and add the necessary tags. Leave a discussion page message explaining your vote.

Check the history of these articles when you see them in NFD Guardian to see if there is a trend of certain editors adding the NFD/accuracy tag. Are they being added in NAB? Quick edits while patrolling? Send the editor(s) placing the inappropriate tags a message suggesting {{accuracy}} or other tags unless the article cannot be fixed by editing.

The real problem here is the tags being placed in the first place if they don’t apply, which is coachable.

Thank you @Isorhythmic . I have voted to keep and left discussion page notes for a couple of articles, but, mostly, I skip them in NFD Guardian. Just so I know, can someone remind me of the circumstances when it is appropriate to mark an article NFD|ACC?

I Haven’t had the chance to see these articles since NFD Guardian is not accessible on my account but the pages that I have found marked for deletion|Accuracy usually  have been articles where they are unclear and if followed step by step could not be duplicated / or achieve the task by the average reader. Others who I have seen marked for deletion are articles that may be on the moral issue gray area, or may seem offensive or irrelevant for some readers.
An example would be one recently discussed by @MercatsAwesome , @Vishwavijay , and @Albaster regarding an article about how to be a sexy male stripper. Vish gave a pretty good argument on why it was not a reason to delete it. One concern on the NFD|ACC tag is on the Deletion policy where there is no specific examples on what qualifies and fits into that category. It is pretty broad and vague and it is suggested that accuracy or editing be the first choice…

^Yes, as per the article on wikiHow wikiHow:Deletion Policy an article is marked for deletion for accuracy if it has Severe accuracy problems that can’t be easily edited away. Use {{accuracy}} or edit to fix is always first choice.

So, it need not be nominated for deletion but could be edited by someone. There are two sides to this:

  • If the article is not deleted - It will go to the forgotten articles link (which is already a very very very long list of articles to be completed and published by editors).
  • Or if deleted - The title gets freed for any other editor in the future to write on.

As we know there are many users who prefer starting an article than editing an already stubbed one hence the number of new discussion with users asking about topic suggestions.

If the article is deleted, and another user writes a rather more comprehensive and accurate article on it, then well and good however, if they make an article which does not have useful and accurate content, then again, it will be in the forgotten articles list.

Coming back to @Alabaster concern about allowing an article to stay if it has good and useful content, then yes, if the article has novel content which is unlikely to be recreated by any other article creator, then it must be considered to stay. However, if the article has generic content (apart from the inaccurate bit) which any other user who wants to create a new article on the title could do, then may be, for the good of the myriad of forgotten articles on the site, it is best to be erased totally in my humble opinion.

I have another concern with respect to marking an article for deletion. I thought it would be helpful to share it here.

Mostly new users, start a new article, the first thing as they make an account here. Just how welcome they feel as they join, they feel equally vulnerable when their article is either marked for deletion or deleted already the next time they log in. Its no wonder they get shocked and feel upset.

There have been cases when authors took it so personally and aggressively that they threatened and vandalized the site as a reaction. To avoid this and to avoid affecting the Booster who marked their article for deletion from being emotionally disturbed because of such aggressive behavior, I wanted to request a bot account accessible to NABers just to tackle articles that are clearly mean spirited or joke etc. Such authors come to the site to do such things and when their work is deleted, they post abusive messages on the hardworking and the selfless boosters and editors.

Hence, I wondered if creating a bot like account to send talkpage  warnings and alerts to authors who deliberately post abusive messages, threaten the editors and do other such acts.

how can we vote for an article to be deleted? and where can i find those NDF articles?

Hi @Mkaram84 You can read this article for nominating an article for deletion and this for further reference for the reasons to nominate them .
