Hello there i was just creating a article on wikihow about web development… I need to show the reader the codes so that the reader can learn from the code or just copy it… However, when I post the codes in the editing step, the codes are all scattered and each line of code is made into a new step. I know I can post the image of the code but the reader will only waste his/her time typing, rather than just copying the code. How can I overcome this problem

That’s the problem with the normal editing. Each line is taken as actionable steps… Maybe try using advanced editing? Do you mean to say like the codes in this article: http://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-wikiHow-User-Information-Box-(UIB) Just add < pre > (without the gaps) Hope that helps. Please correct me if I’m wrong…

You can also put <nowiki></nowiki> too; just use them as you would regular HTML tags. June Days

:smiley:thanks a lot guys really appreciate it !!!

wait a minute, that didn’t work out as a expected… i mean to say… I am creating an article called “How to make signup form using HTML5” So I want to show the codes of HTML5 in that article on step no 2 But, when I copy the code from the program I’ve created and paste it in the editor, each line of code becomes a new step ie. becomes step3 becomes step 4 but I want the codes to be seen on step2 in smaller font than normal:smiley:

Try advanced editing. It doesn’t happen in it.

okie dokie:smiley:

Well that didn’t display quite as you hoped it would.:wink:She put nowiki tags, but they didn’t show up.

#awwcomon it simply isn’t working hmm… should i delete the article or should @wikihow solve that problem

This will help you: http://www.wikihow.com/Write-a-Programming-Article-on-wikiHow
