Hi, I use a remote control button like a car key fob to turn on my 12 volt 1 amp external siren mounted at my driveway gate. This was all part of a remote control gate opener originally but the gate opener part failed. I connected part of the remote receiver to the loud siren for emergency help with burglars etc.

My problem is that the alarm always turns on with the remote fob but seldom turns off with another click of the remote. I have to go to the gate to disconnect the siren manually. It all works ok with the siren disconnected as seen by led lights in the unit at the gate.

I think it must be something to do with the current being drawn by the siren that prevents the remote turning it off. I am pretty savvy with electronic circuits but this is starting to bug me.

Can anyone suggest what the problem may be?
