I’ve got some bad news. My Dad had a stroke on Wednesday evening and had surgery that ended early this morning. Fortunately, he did well in surgery and I’m optimistic he is making a good recovery. He’s talking and is in good spirits considering what he’s going through. I’m here in the hospital with him now. We’re hoping he can get out of the hospital next week. Sadly, I’m not going to make it to the wikiHow meetup. I’d like to stay close to my Dad in case he needs me. It’s really disappointing for me to miss it. There are several people who I’ve been collaborating with online for years that I was going to get to meet for the first time. I sure wish I could be there. So even though I’m not coming to the meetup, I would still like to present the “State of the Wiki” presentation that I’ve put together. Perhaps I can find a way to do that via Google+. I’ll talk to @Krystle and @Anna to see if there is a way we could webcast it to Florida. I’m really bummed to miss you guys. Fortunately, the team has done such an amazing job of planning the meetup, that I’m sure it will be a huge success.

Glad your dad’s doing well. We will all miss you, but glad you’re doing the right thing. We’ll keep you guys in prayers and pray for a speedy recovery!

Thank you very much for the thoughts and prayers. I can feel the wikiLove from ya’ll. It’s great we have such a supportive community. My dad is recovering. At 4 AM last night I had to stop him from making a jail break. That fact that he is trying a few hours after major surgery shows he is still feisty. That’s a great sign!
