Hi! I recently surveyed the community and got a pretty nice response. I asked what you liked and disliked, and you gave me some good answers. Let’s start off with what people liked: People liked the comics. I was very happy to see this response, and so was Caidoz! People liked the design. Some said that they liked the color/design scheme better and it made it seem like they were reading an actual newspaper. Now, for the dislikes: People said that they wanted a bit of a lighter background color. I went with what we have now because it fits in with the site. I won’t change this unless this is a MAJOR concern. I want to hear what you have to say. Comment below. People also said that they wanted the Interview section back. I had a choice between keeping it running and closing it down. I chose the first option because I was aiming for something different. I didn’t want to keep many of the same features. So I’m saying that’s gone for good. Now it’s time for me to ask for YOUR help: I need people writing in. I’d like to see letters to the editor, but if you’d like to write an article as well, that would be great! Also, after the fifth edition of the new herald, Caidoz’s comics will be retired forever. Please send in comics! They can be inspired by Caidoz, or they can be unique. They don’t have to be in the “box” style. Just whatever you want to do. Write everything in to wikihowherald@gmail.com . Thanks! Matt

There should be a drawing contest in which people can submit their drawings to the wikiHow Herald Gmail and Rangers31 can judge.

It’s not about it being a contest, it’s more about having stuff to publish:slight_smile:

I really like this new Herald design, and the comics as well. Nice job with those, @Caidoz ! And kudos to @Rangers31 for keeping all of this together. Overall, I think it comes off really, really nicely.

It’s not as much as a contest as it is a way to display wikiHowains’ artwork. Maybe a page for riddles/games? I’m good at mazes.

I’m saddened to hear this. The interviews were my favourite part of the Old Herald! But I would gladly sacrifice it for the freshness and liveliness of the New Herald! @Rangers31 you’ve done an amazing job!

Here’s my opinions of most of the above:

Hello!

Yes, the comics are HILARIOUSand help bring a lighter attitude. Thanks @Caidoz for creating the comics!

Yes, the new design looks like a newspaper and looks incredible!

I think that the current color is good because it matches the color of the site. (i.e. The front page, etc.)

Awwww… The comics were fun!:frowning:

I agree with this 100%! Great job with the Herald Matt!

I suppose I could help out with a comic or so. I draw comics anyway for my blog, so I think I could do it. It’s a great idea, Matt, to give people the chance to write in with stories and things! It could also be like the old interview section - a way to learn something about someone’s wikiHow experience.

I think doing this would be awesome, since Rangers31 isn’t going to have it in the Herald. Personally, I’d rather have it in the wH forums, but maybe that’s just me…

@Metsguy234 - Would you like to run that? I think it’s a cool idea, I just don’t know if I can do it.

Well, Matt has a LOT of stuff to do for the Herald, and so I thank him greatly for all the time he has put in. I think that’s why it’s so helpful for him to get stories from us all, so that he doesn’t have to write everything himself. I think if someone wanted to interview people than they could do that and send the results of the interview to Matt. @Rangers31 ?

Yeah, well, I don’t really have anything interesting to talk about.:stuck_out_tongue:

@Metsguy234 me please lol

How about @JackHerrick about the creation of wikiHow? That would be interesting.:slight_smile:

Would you just pick anyone that was interested?

I wouldn’t mind…:stuck_out_tongue:

@IsabelleZita : NO ME FIRST

Eh, do Rangers first. He writes the Herald, he needs some kind of credit, right?

I’m good with the color scheme. Nice choices, and they match the site. The articles are nice… giving a second look at things I’ve skimmed through in the forums. The occasional featured author / interview might not be a bad thing? But my understanding there is that longer term editors were getting harder and harder to find and write about. Love the comics. I hope we have more editors who have the gift of the draw.

@Loiswade42 , do you have the gift of draw?
