Well i will surely like to know when do you people thumb up a edit. Is it like some of you are giving it to people of your circles only. Is there any way in wiki to ensure that a worthy edit don’t go without thumbs up If there is no way to do this then,…what about quality of thumbs Up on wiki Well i never got one after making good, i mean really nice edits and this is why i will like to know about all this,… don’t take me wrong , i am writing this just because i am eager to get one and your information can help me.

Hey, Nope, there’s no absolute foolproof way to ensure that good edits get thumbs up. First, some newbies to patrolling don’t know when to give thumbs ups, and secondly, even experienced patroller’s have different views on what deserves a thumbs up. Some give them on big edits, like adding step by step photos or totally rewriting an article, while others give them to edits like fixing the categorization of an article. So really, it varies. I’d suggest to just keep on making good edits, and you’re bound to get one sometime or other.

Moved to Help Using wikiHow
Thanks for the info. Hope i don’t become a article category fixer from today . May be i can get lots of thumbs up now by making minor edits and then giving thumb up from another wiki id by patrolling my first id edits (:s) but then what about quality of thumbs up on wiki ?? don’t you think something should be done in this regard.

Well, fixing category’s is awesome! Sure, you may not get that many TU (or, you might get tons! Like stated earlier, it depends on the patroller), but for an awesome wiki you need articles in the right categories so people can find the right article. And no, I really wouldn’t make another account so you can give yourself TU’s. First of all, it’s not right, and secondly, where would the gratifying moment be when you see that someone thinks your edit is really good? :\
I added steps to articles,things u will need ,made images by applications for wiki, corrected articles so that they may work as said, added warnings ,tips,…=no thumb up and someone gets it for minor edits,… I think wiki should lay rules for thumbs up Ex One Sure TU for adding steps No thumb up for correcting spellings and grammers or ,…only your no of contribution increase for this edit
I totally agree with what Isabelle’s been telling you. +1 to all of it. I don’t think that there should be rules on when to give a thumbs-up. Besides, if users were awarding a TU every time someone added a step, someone could get a TU for adding a horrible-quality step that is full of spelling and grammar errors and that makes no sense whatsoever. Personally, I think that wikiHowians just have to suck it up when they don’t get thumbs-up. Just try and make as many good, high-quality edits as you can and hopefully at least 1 of them will be noticed and get a thumbs-up. Sometimes I make edits that I think are for sure going to get a TU, and then they don’t. It’s really not a big deal to me. Nobody on wikiHow is going to go around judging you on how many thumbs-ups you have, anyway. I know I don’t. Your ideas are good, but I don’t think that they’re necessary. Hopefully you’ll get a thumbs-up soon!
I know that you all are right but it feels that TU tool is not complete .

Hey @YngHackr
, don’t worry too much about thumbs up. Just do what you enjoy doing on wikiHow, what makes you feel like you’re contributing to this project. If you do stuff just expecting to get thumbs up, you might be disappointed and frustrated. Same as in real life. Sometimes you get recognized for your efforts, sometimes you don’t! But either way, like I said, do things on wikiHow that give you fulfillment and pride. That is way more valuable than a thumbs up

Amen; and I might point out, you just haven’t gotten a TU for that edit yet
, as TU is now available for anyone to give, in History.

Do you have to have requirements or something to give a thumbs up to an article? Because I’ve found some articles that are worthy of a thumbs-up!
@LimeUnicorn
you don’t give thumbs-ups for articles, you give them for amazing edits. You can do this by clicking the button that looks like a thumb in recent changes patrol.
+365,000. So right @krystle
.
@andrewg1999
…you can give thumbs up in any app or any article, not just RCP anymore.
I agree that you can get thumbs up for basically anything that helps! I got one because I capitalized two letters!
