Hi,  I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone knew the rules and regulations regarding service dogs.  I have panic attacks and anxiety when I go anywhere outside my house, so I am trying to train my 2 year old mini Austraulian shepherd to be my service dog.  I know this sounds weird, but she can sense a panic attack before it starts, so I am going to try to train her myself to be a service dog.  We live in Iowa, so I would love information on not only my states laws but federal laws as well.

We have some information for you, if you had done a search for it on the main website:  https://www.wikihow.com/Train-a-Service-Dog

Byankno1,  I did look at that, and in fact printed it so I can get started, but I did not see anywhere that would tell me what the laws are for my state as far as having to wear a vest, etc.

I’m pretty sure that your dog doesn’t have to wear a vest (though it can be useful for passersby to know that this isn’t an ordinary pet).

I might be able to get a service animal someday (“companion dog” for autism) and I love people discussing the practical side of how to make it happen.

i have a survies dog for my anxity and deppreson and she helps alot

were i live it more inportent to have a dog wear a servise dog vest because no one can touch the dog if it wearing a vest like when i’m at home with my service dog he dosent wear a vest but when were out and about he has to were the cape
