Hi,

Since a few days I am not able to switch the editing option to Guided Editing.
It happened day before yesterday (27th December) when I was editing this article http://www.wikihow.com/Draw-the-Map-of-India when it was under the inuse tag.

But I had no problems switching to guided editing with another article yesterday : http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Painting-Dry-Quickly

Today again when I tried going to the guided editing option for this article : https://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Post-a-Tweet-Longer-than-140-Characters&action=edit&override=yes
its not switching.

Guided editing makes adding links and all the other parts of an article very easy so I deemed it appropriate to bring it up so I can edit easily.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The guided editor does not support multiple methods or parts. Articles with those always default to the advanced editor. However, it should be possible to disable the headings/magic word combo in advanced editor, save the article, then edit it in guided mode.

Oh, so thats the reason.  @Alabaster . I’ll edit the magic words to switch to guided editing now. Thanks a lot Alabaster.

Removing the magic word will not break the sections. They will go to the default. You need to remove the headings, or at least the ==='s.

@Alabaster Oh okay. That means the guided editor has a leaning towards simple formatted articles. Alright, I shall remove all the traces of parts and methods from the article and then edit it. Actually, ill just try that with the twitter article mentioned above. But, if I do this with other editors’ articles, it may worry them at first but later they will feel okay that their article is not ‘changed’ by me.

How do you edit others’ article in this situation Al?

I, personally, use the advanced editor as my default editor and find that it suits my needs.

I believe advanced editor does the trick too. It just requires a bit of brain storming and trying out the editing options to get to weaving links.

Either ways, links could be added as Al suggested or as Anna did through the spider web like icon.

I believe it is safe to close this thread as I found the answer through Alabaster’s and Anna’s help.
Thanks.
