Many users have just joined and no welcome message showed up for any of them. I’ve wrote most of them messages asking if they had any questions about the site. Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I welcomed over 15 users who joined last night. Was that a good idea what I did?

@coffeelover :Unfortunately, when this feature was first set out to work, it was set up when the user made their first contribution we would generally welcome them manually. However, since then, they’ve institute a bot that welcomes every user upon the users first contribution(to alleviate excess procedures giving older users the chance to edit and write articles. If the user seems like their still don’t know their way around the site, you can add the {{welcomelinks}} template as a message on a newer users page, that will accomplish the same tasks, as what we’d have to go through. But please don’t welcome any other contributor with the old list/old method…

Thanks for reporting this. The welcoming tool wasn’t working for approximately 12 hours but it’s back now. If it happens again please let me know. Thanks for helping out @Coffeelover - for future reference you can always use the {{welcome}} template if the welcoming tool is broken and someone hasn’t been welcomed yet. Thanks also to @Uno_of_a_kind and @BR for helping to fill in for the welcome tool!

I’m sorry again for not knowing the “welcome” teplate. I noticed that because I was vistiting many users pages that just joined and noticed there was no welcom message on their page.

Sorry @Krystle for not noticing that the bot was down. And being I forgot to mention the use of the welcome template ONLY when the tool is broken…, things aren’t going the way I thought they would.
