What’s your most popular article? Mine is Earn money with an Extra room http://www.wikihow.com/Earn-Money-With-an-Extra-Room With currently 1021 views. I know, pretty low.

It dates back a little ways, but I had one, which, I don’t remember it’s full name, but it was in reference to changing your name on Facebook with I’ve 20000(yes, over 20-thousand) hits. It’s was a featured article for a while.

I’m sort of new to wikiHow, so I don’t have an article over 100 views. But My REAL winner so far is this one, ( http://www.wikihow.com/Stop-Bullying-Your-Classmates ) With 88 views in 3-5 days.

Mine is http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Twitter

That’s actually quite common.

Reinstall Mac OS X (486,079) Which I should probably cleanup / rewrite at some point.

One of the most popular articles that I started is surprisingly this one: http://www.wikihow.com/Treat-Mallet-Finger-with-a-Splint By the way, you can find a really nice list of the articles you’ve written and their page views on this page: http://www.wikihow.com/Special:YourArticles

Sadly my most “popular” article only has 59 views… http://www.wikihow.com/Build-a-Winning-Pokemon-Deck I really should try to finish it!

Jello shots FTW: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Jello-Shots Almost 3.6 million views! It’s not “my” article, since it benefited from the input of a LOT of people, but I’m proud of the subsection I created under tips that lists all the suggested jello/liqueur flavor combinations. Sad thing is that I’ve never actually made jello shots. I’ve only consumed them at a 70s party thrown by a friend of mine and that’s what inspired me to answer the request. As a side note (I know this is going to sound like some of wikiHow’s now infamous superfluous tips, but anyways…): If you are underage, you shouldn’t be doing alcoholic jello shots at all, and if you have just come of legal drinking age/started drinking, jello shots are a very bad place to start. They can get you very drunk, very quickly, because they taste like candy and it doesn’t really feel like you’re drinking. So, if you aren’t of legal drinking age, make jello shots with fruit juice or soda instead.

I wouldn’t say its sad, necessarily. What people forget, especially when looking at the contributions of someone (like me) who’s been on wikiHow for several years), is that the popularity of certain articles doesn’t skyrocket overnight. Several new wikiHowians ask me how I’ve gotten nearly 10,000,000 article views, and a lot of that is because I’ve been around so long and I’ve copyedited so many articles. Take the jello shot article, for example. It’s been on wikiHow for about 5 years, but it wasn’t featured until a little less than 3 years after it was written. By then it had 300,000 or so views (I believe). It has been edited by a LOT of people on numerous occasions. Usually, in order for a wiki article to be good, it has to be edited by a few other people, if only to get rid of typos. And to reach 100,000+ it usually has to be featured. In addition, a lot of the “low-hanging fruit” (as really obvious topics are referred to by the Wikipedia community) has already been taken, so it can be hard to come up with a topic with mass appeal that wikiHow hasn’t covered yet. I think you should finish the Pokemon deck article. It may not be the most popular article ever, but it’s a start and that’s how you build skills that you can use in creating and editing other articles. One of the first FAs I started, Make Latte Art, was almost abandoned as a stub because I was afraid I couldn’t finish it given that I’m not a barista. Luckily, Sondra C. prodded me to finish it, and not only did it get featured, it also got mentioned in Lifehacker and became del.icio.us popular (back when more people actually used Delicious). In addition, people found most of it to be accurate, and I was able to easily fix what people said was inaccurate. That wouldn’t have happened if I just gave up.

This would be mine: http://www.wikihow.com/Extend-the-Battery-Life-of-an-iPad (52,000+ views)

http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Long-Hair-off-a-Shower-Drain-(Without-Using-Your-Fingers) is my top one, standing at 23,436 views, and http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Bubbling-Brook-Bracelet is a close second, at 22,448 views. My first FA ( http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Puzzle ) has 10,897 views.

This is very true. I don’t think it’s only by chance that my most popular article ( 4 Ways to Write in Gothic Calligraphy - wikiHow ) is also my oldest one and my first FA. It is over 3 years old. 93,000+ views. People always ask how it got so many views, and all I can say is that it has had a long time to accumulate them. It was also almost the end of my wH road, and it needs a rewrite, so it is actually quite a lot of things to me!
