OK, so some users (Including me.) have been wanting to know who’s on wikiHow at the moment. I think we should make a new tool that’s at the side of a page, and says who’s on. Lots of new users need help, and some users want a specifec person. What do you think? June Days

This has been in discussion off & on for a few years and came to the conclusion to a ‘no’ decision. wikiHow is a sole volunteer based project, meaning that anytime a person does visit/edit the site is doing it on their own time. If someone needs to find a specific person, they are always free to ask on that person’s talk page or ask in IRC. On message boards and the sort, I always hide my online status. It’s just a personal thing. If I’m on, I’m on. If I decide to go to something else, fine. I don’t like the idea of having a personal “beeper/pager” saying “Oh hey, I’m online!!” - kind of defeats the purpose of a volunteer site and invades privacy.
Oh, OK, thanks! June Days
This should really be placed in the “Collaboration Corner” since this really isn’t a new-category request.
Oh sorry, well, I think that this disscussion should be closed. Thanks! June Days
