Ever want to be a big city artist, for real? Well, this is the place to be! We'll teach you how to draw buildings in perspective. Grab a pencil and let's draw!
Steps
-
Draw a standard rectangle. Then, at a 30° angle difference, draw another rectangle. The bottom right corner of both should be connected.
-
Note the area where the second rectangle intersects the first. Erase those lines and shade in the rest of the remaining second rectangle.Advertisement
-
Draw into the first rectangle as if it were a normal sketch and now your career has begun!
-
Recall how a cube looks? You need to draw a similar structure but with an increased height to give it a look and feel of a tall building.
-
Remember that the shaded portion of the structure would be the one opposite to the sun. And hence the shade.
-
Rotate your drawing paper. This will provide you a much deeper perspective while you draw.
-
Get a 3D view. This view can be obtained from only two viewing angles. One would be shaded on the left, the other on the right. If you draw a rectangle with no shades, then you can make it look as the front portion of the structure.
-
Proceed with your drawing. If you are planning to make a vanishing point perspective (the image goes on continuous till the center) remember to draw respective structures on both sides of your main structure. That is a building would have 3-sides front facing. The right and the left portion, in this case, will be shaded. Now you can draw streets on both sides of the building.
-
Draw from a building's top view (Eagle-eye) perspective. To do this you can actually draw a box and show tiny people and vehicles around the box to give the impression of 'height'. You can then later modify this box to look as a terrace of the building.
