How to Double Space in Google Docs

This wikiHow teaches you how to add double spacing to a document in Google Docs in a desktop browser or the mobile app.

On Desktop

Open a document at http://docs.google.com .

Highlight the text you want to double-space.
- Click Edit in the menu bar at the top of the browser window and Select all to highlight the entire document.

Click Line spacing in the drop-down.
- Alternatively, click the Line Spacing button in the toolbar at the top of the document. It's an icon of horizontal lines next to up and down arrows.

Click Double . The highlighted text is now double-spaced.
- While different paragraphs may have different spacing, all the lines in a single paragraph must maintain the same line spacing.

On Mobile

It's a white app with a blue paper icon that contains white lines.
It's a blue circle with a white pencil icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Highlight the text you want to double-space. Use your finger or the arrow buttons on a hardware keyboard to do so.
- Long-tap the text and tap Select all to select all the text in the document.
It's an A with horizontal lines in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Taporon either side of the number to increase or decrease it to 2.00.

Tap anywhere on the document. The highlighted text is now double-spaced.
- While different paragraphs may have different spacing, all the lines in a single paragraph must maintain the same line spacing.

Making Double Spaced the Default for New Documents

Open a document at http://docs.google.com . Do so in a desktop browser.
It's at the top of the document.
New documents will now be double-spaced automatically.

Go to edit in the top left corner an then click find and replace or press command shift and h at the same time and then find all spaces and replace them with two spaces, or however many your heart desires.
