If having your phone vibrate or ring every three seconds from WhatsApp notifications isn't your thing, you can mute the responsible groups or contacts! To do this, you'll need to go into your "Chats" tab and find the "Mute" option.

Open your WhatsApp app.

Tap the "Chats" tab. This is in the toolbar at the bottom of your screen; you may have to tap the backward-facing arrow in the top left corner of your screen to view this toolbar.Advertisement

Swipe left on the chat you wish to mute. You should see two options--"More" and "Archive"--appear on the right side of the screen.

Tap More .

Tap Mute .

Tap a mute time frame. You can choose "8 hours", "1 week", or "1 year". You have successfully muted a chat on WhatsApp!
- To unmute the conversation manually, tap Mute again and then tap Unmute .
