  1. 1
Open the Fortnite menu. Here's how you do it, depending on what type of controller you have:
    • PlayStation: Press the ☰ (options) button, which is the small button directly to the right of the touchpad and to the left of the â–³ button.
    • Xbox: Press the ☰ (menu) button, which is the small button directly to the left of the X button and to the right of the Xbox button.
    • Keyboard: If you're using a controller on your computer, you can also press the Esc button on your keyboard to open the menu.
  2. 2
Open the settings menu. To do this, navigate over to the gear icon in the bottom-left part of the Fortnite menu. If you're on a computer, you can also use the mouse to click on this button.

  3. 3
Open the controller menu. Across the top of the settings screen, you'll see a row of icons. By default, you'll open up to the farthest left menu (the "Video" menu). Using R1 (PlayStation)/ RB (Xbox), scroll to the icon of a controller. It's the third to last icon in the row, and when you scroll to it, the word "Controller" will be under the controller icon. [1]
    • If you're on a PC, you can also use your mouse to click on the controller icon.
    • You will see the "Controller" menu on PC even if you don't have a controller plugged into your computer at the moment.
  4. 4
Select the Vibration menu option. It's near the top of the menu, under the "Input" header. To select it, scroll down and press X (PlayStation)/ A (Xbox). If you're on a computer, you can also click on the Vibration option with your mouse.
  5. 5
Choose Off . Use the d-pad on your controller to choose the Off option, then press X (PlayStation)/ A (Xbox) to confirm your choice. On a computer, you can simply click Off instead.
  6. 6
Exit your settings menu. Press O (PlayStation)/ B (Xbox) on a controller, or Esc on a keyboard if you're on PC. Fortnite will ask if you want to save your changes before exiting. Confirm by pressing X (PlayStation)/ A (Xbox) or by clicking the Save button with your mouse. [2]
    • If you want to enable controller vibration again, go back to this menu and change Vibration back to On .
    • While you can change your controller vibration settings on PC, you'll only notice the change if you're playing Fortnite with a controller on your computer.

Changing DualSense Trigger Effects

  1. 1
Press the PlayStation button on your controller. If you play Fortnite on a PS5, you might want to adjust the intensity of the adaptive trigger effect on your DualSense controller. This method only works on PlayStation 5 consoles, and it will only affect DualSense controllers. [3]
    • You can adjust this setting whether you have Fortnite open or closed on your console.
  2. 2
Scroll over to the controller icon. Use the down d-pad button to scroll down once, then press the right d-pad button to scroll to the right until the cursor highlights the controller icon. The icon will say "Accessories" when it's highlighted.
  3. 3
Press X , then press X again on your controller. If you only have one accessory connected (your controller), you can press X twice in succession. If you have more than one accessory connected, use the d-pad to scroll to your controller before pressing X a second time.
  4. 4
Choose Controller Settings . Use the d-pad to scroll to this option, then press X to choose it.
  5. 5
Scroll down and choose Trigger Effect Intensity . It's the second option on the list. Press X to edit the trigger effect intensity.
  6. 6
Choose a new trigger intensity option. You can choose Off , Weak , Medium , or Strong (Standard) . Press X to choose a new option. [4]
    • If you want to entirely disable adaptive triggers, choose Off . Otherwise, choose a weaker intensity than the intensity you have already selected.
    • For example, if your trigger effect intensity is set to Strong , try out Medium to see if you like it. If the effect is still too intense, you can return to this menu and lower it to Weak (or disable it entirely, if you prefer).
  7. 7
Exit your settings. Press O until you've exited your settings completely. The setting changes will save automatically.
    • This will adjust your adaptive trigger settings for all games, not just Fortnite. There is no way to change your trigger effect intensity for only Fortnite, so if you want stronger trigger effects in other games, you'll need to go back to this menu and change your settings when you play that game.
