It seems like the kids in every generation invent their own unique vocabulary, and Generation Alpha is no different. These rizzlers are looksmaxxing their sigma auras all the time. Unfortunately for some of us less trendy folks, we have zero idea what any of that means. In this article, weโ€™ll take a close look at what โ€œOhio rizzโ€ (and โ€œOhio skibidi rizzโ€) means. Weโ€™ll even cover the other popular Gen Alpha terms you might encounter.

Ohio Rizz Meaning

โ€œOhio rizzโ€ refers to someone who is kind of awkward and cringey when they talk to people theyโ€™re attracted to. The phrase combines the popular slang term "Ohio," which is used to reference something awful or weird, and "rizz," which is short for โ€œcharisma.โ€

What does "Ohio Rizz" mean?

  1. โ€œRizzโ€ is shorthand for charisma. It refers specifically to the kind of charisma you need to flirt with someone effectively and appear attractive. โ€œOhio,โ€ on the other hand, means something is weird or cringey. Put them together and โ€œOhio Rizzโ€ means that someone has terrible game. [1]
    • Nathan tried to ask me on a date last night but heโ€™s got that Ohio Rizz. Poor guy asked me if I wanted to go to McDonalds for a dinner date.
    • Ohio Rizz might refer to someone who has ridiculous pickup lines, someone who just doesnโ€™t do well when dating, or someone who tends to put their foot in their mouth when they talk to someone they like.
    • According to Influencer and Content Creator Aaron Makelky, "The Ohio term is synonymous with craziness or something being rundown, and people use it to compare bad or negative things. It actually used to be 'Detroit' instead of Ohio, but after a series of Minecraft memes, it morphed into Ohio."

What does "Ohio Skibidi Rizz" mean?

  1. โ€œOhioโ€ means cringey or weird and โ€œRizzโ€ refers to your flirting game, so what does โ€œSkibidiโ€ add to the phrase? Well, it actually doesn't have a set meaning. Depending on how itโ€™s normally used, skibidi can mean cool, evil, weird, strange, or inconsequential. When itโ€™s added to a phrase like โ€œOhio Rizz,โ€ itโ€™s sort of just a filler word that makes the absurdist phrase sound even sillier. [2]
    • Where does โ€œSkibidiโ€ come from? Skibidi is a reference to the YouTube series Skibidi Toilet . Gen. Alpha grew up with this very silly web series about bad guys named โ€œSkibidi Toiletsโ€โ€”floating heads sticking out of toilets that try to infect others with the toilet disease. Yeah, we donโ€™t really get it either. [3]
Section 3 of 4:

Why does โ€œOhioโ€ mean someone is weird or uncool?

PDF download Download Article
  1. It comes from people sharing memes on the internet where the image would display something ridiculous and bad (like a kangaroo stealing your Amazon package) and itโ€™d have a caption like, โ€œCanโ€™t have nice things in Ohioโ€ or โ€œDonโ€™t go to Ohio.โ€ The memes sort of have an absurdist, David Lynch-esque energy to them, and thereโ€™s nothing Gen Alpha likes more than goofy insanity. [4]
    • Most kids who use the Ohio slang term donโ€™t actually think Ohio is bad. Itโ€™s sort of a running joke. Donโ€™t take it personally, Ohioans!
