Bring that zombified villager back to full health
PDF download Download Article

It is possible to heal a zombie villager friend in the game of Minecraft, restoring the villager to his or her normal self. You'll need to get hold of the zombie villager in order to make the change and then have the right items to splash the villager with; these should be gathered before attempting the process of healing. Make sure you have the correct potion before attempting

  1. You'll need a splash potion of weakness and a golden apple. You can make the weakness potion with a fermented spider eye and bottle of water with a brewing stand, and the golden apples can either be found or crafted with one apple and eight gold ingots. As an alternative to this, you can instead make arrows of weakness to be more efficient. (if you are in java edition, you need lingering potions to do this, but in bedrock you only need a cauldron). [1]
  2. Make sure it can't escape. If your villagers are in compartments, then it is already trapped and this step is safe to skip. Keep the villager out of any direct sunlight; if it gets into the sunlight, it will burn. At this point you should also keep it away from iron golems, as they will attack and kill it.

  3. You can use a crossbow enchanted with piercing to recover the arrow after.
  4. Make sure to do this quickly, before the weakness effect wears off. If you are on mobile, hold down on the villager with your finger or aim the camera at them and press the "cure" button that appears. [2]
  5. The zombie villager will begin shaking. It should take around 4 minutes for the villager to be cured. You can speed up the process by putting iron bars and a bed near the curing zombie. [3]
  6. Let it go about its normal business once it has transformed. If your villagers are in compartments, skip this step.
  7. The villager will now have significantly reduced prices, normal trades decreasing by 5 in cost and special trades like enchanted books by 20. Other villagers will also decrease their prices slightly.

How do I feed the zombie villager in Pocket Edition?
    Community Answer
Trap the zombie villager where there's no sunlight and hit it with a splash potion of weakness. Then feed it a golden apple.
  • Question
How long will the zombie villager transformation last?

    Community Answer
About 4-5 minutes in real time (not Minecraft time). It also depends on how long you wait after you throw the splash potion. If you want to lessen the time, feed the zombie the golden apple directly after hitting it with the potion. Tip: Keep a bucket of milk nearby. You will also get the weakness effect when hitting the zombie. Drink the milk to get rid of the potion.

      Warnings

      • If the villager is attacked by a zombie during the process, the villager will stay as a zombie until you do it again. Keep zombies away from the villager.
      • If there are iron golems in the area, they will attack and kill the zombie villager. Keep iron golems away to keep it from dying.
      • If you want to repeat this process for lower prices, set the gamemode to hard so that the villager has 100% chance of being zombified rather than just dying.
      • The zombie villager will attack you, even after being fed the apple. Make sure it can't reach you so that you are safe.
      • If using a splash potion rather than an arrow, you may be hit by it too. Drinking milk can cure the status effect, or you could just wait it out.
      • If the zombie villager is already low health, it is not safe to use arrows, you should just use a potion.
