  • Question
Can you recommend consumer friendly mixers for beginners?
    Community Answer
Any of the DDJ's from Pioneer would work, such as the DDJ-SB or some of the less expensive Numark controllers. If you need a mixer for the two turntables, go with a cheap one, mixers are not a huge deal when using turntables. If you meant a mixer for CD players, just go with what is cheap.
  • Question
Do I need a laptop to start learning to be a DJ?
    Community Answer
That depends on how you want to be a DJ but the easier way is to do it with a controller and software. You can use a mixer to learn it too, as it's the traditional way. Also, you can use any kind of computer but be prepared that after some time, if you will want to go to parties, you will need one.
  • Question
Should I buy a turntable or a launchpad first?
    Community Answer
Buy a turntable because the launchpad doesn't have cue, pitch, sync, jog, etc. But do your homework, as it's impossible to really say that what you need is clear from your basic question -- only you can know that.
  • Question
Is there a website that allows DJ's to collaborate with one another?
    Community Answer
You could use Skype or messenger video calls to communicate with other DJs. Or, you can also go and check Soundation.com, where there's a section that allows you to produce in real time with your partners working everything on the cloud.
  • Question

  • Question
Is any need for instrumental knowledge?

  • Question
How much would it cost to start out as a beginner?
    Community Answer
When I started DJing I got a Numark Mixtrack Pro 2, and Logitech Z323 Speaker System (because I was mixing on my computer), and Beats Headphones ($190). But cheap $20 headphones should be good. The grand total came out to be $350, but that was me. Your grand total should be from $120 - $300.
  • Question
How do I get FL Studio? Is it like a studio I go to, or something I have to buy and set up like an ordinary DJ set?

  • Question
When working with remixing at first (because not all of us are savants who can straight up write music), what is the easiest way to break a track down into its stems? If this cannot be done, what is another way of working around this roadblock?
    Community Answer
You can break a track down into breakdowns (the part where where the vibes in the song starts. The silent or slow part.) Drops (main part and the loudest part.) Chorus, bridges (everything speeds up) intros and extros. To identify them, you can see the spectrum or count beats. Usually they are in 30, 45, 60 seconds.

    TormentDubz EDM
    Community Answer
Trance is a genre of music, usually characterized by arpeggiated synths, a 4-to-the-floor kick beat and a tempo of 130-140 bpm. DJing is mixing and performing music, and you can perform trance music using DJ equipment. If you are really interested in DJing, and are willing to invest time and money into it, then go right ahead.
