Over the past few months, I’ve been noticing a few other things that I think might be interesting. You actually have the software in place for Talk pages. My ideas: 1.) email notification for article DISCUSSION pages(not just user talk pages).-I’m not always dilligent enough to remember to check my watchlist, but having an email be sent for every discussion page would highlight discussions where I need to get back to the person or article on. 2.) email notification for FAN MAIL- same idea- I don’t like having to go directly to the website to see the one thing I will have missed from not being able to see it in email… The watchlist is rarely ever looked at by myself, so the watchlist is totally useless to view my discussion page message notifications.

After putting articles/discussion pages on your watchlist you could change your preferences so that you get an email whenever a page you’re watching is changed? =)

Not quite the route I’d like to go for!

A simple second checkbox when creating new articles(and a secondary box for existing articles created directly by the original author themselves) similar to the “email…” checkbox when posting an article is the route I’m looking for. I have several others hat I didn’t create, but am watching from time to time that I would definitely not want being emailed to me.

And second, what about notifications for fanmail @harri ?

I’m pretty sure I get updates on both of those- just add them to your raw watchlist. Hope that helps!

You actually got a good point there Mike( @metsguy234 )! I agree whole-heartedly.

I know we’re against social, I think that a notifications tab on wikihow (much like the one on fb) would be extremely helpful.

You can get e-mailed for the discussion page comments as well by following the instructions in this article: http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Emailed-Whenever-a-wikiHow-Page-is-Edited If you add your fan mail page to your watchlist, you will get e-mailed every time something is added, too (I think, I’ve never tried it).

Great idea. I forwarded it to the wikiHaus for consideration, with the redesign and all:slight_smile:

I think it would be great to have a Favorite Articles feature here on wikiHow to keep track and have a collection of all of your favorite and most helpful articles. That way if you ever need to go back and reread or make certain edits to an article, it’s only a click or two away.

Using your browser’s bookmark feature (every browser allows bookmarks) would be useful for this:slight_smile:

@The18thMoon you can also make a page in your user namespace and put your favorite article links in that page. Let say you want to keep those article links in a page named “Favorite”, then go to this address: http://www.wikihow.com/User:The18thMoon/Favorite and put a link to this address in your userpage so that you don’t have to type this address every time you’ll use.

Discussion pages of articles I like to mark as important show up in my watch list. I guess I don’t have a lot of favorites.

Side note, I think we should be able to get updates on our watched pages in, like, daily digest form. This’d lead me to actually watch pages, lol.
